This series truly is a thrilling psychological rollercoaster. Grant is setting himself up as the YA Stephen King - this series gets right inside the minds of evil and righteous characters alike, and is compulsive and gripping. As an adult, I find any series a bit long after the first three installments, but there's no denying the way the suspense is maintained and built upon in these books. Characters are distinct, consistent and yet grow throughout the series plausibly and fascinatingly, to provide real meat for those who are after something deeper than the fast paced, thrilling plotlines; and the intimacy of our understanding and identification with the minds of the characters, as in Stephen King, is often disconcerting and haunting, but always fantastically exciting. The intimate thoughts of the characters are quoted with enough mastery that they truly are recognisable in their voices, with the sophistocation of their observations varying according to their ages.
I guess the reality of the FAYZ is getting more outlandish than ever, but it is no disincentive even to this adult reader. As the demands on our suspension of belief mount, the challenges for Grant are also racheted upwards, but he rises way over the goalposts, and there is such a reward for the reader's belief in the plot and characters that I can't imagine any of its YA audience yet giving up on this series once hooked. I think it is the deadest cert for a literate but disengaged reader I have seen in years, and the way it walks out my library's doors means I know what I'm talking about.

This book had its usual thrills and chills. I cant wait to finish the captivating story! My favourite character is Little Pete because he is still surrounded by mystery. I would highly recommend this book and I cant wait to see what other books Michael Grant comes up with!

I'm just glad that I'm getting closer and closer to finishing this series.
Overall, it is interesting enough for me to continue, but not so much that I couldn't wait to see the ending due to genuine excitement. I rushed through the last 30 pages because I just wanted to finish this and move on to other books. I guess this series so far is okay.

These books just keep getting better and better. Can't say much without spoiling the plot, but the stakes are raised again. More great character development. This is one of the darkest books and the goriest, but it works well. As always, can't wait to read the next one

This book isn’t a priority for me right now, so I’m setting it aside indefinitely.
I was so excited to read this fourth installment of Michael Grant's "Gone" series and I was not disappointed. Boy...this group of kids cannot get a break! Now that the threat of Drake has somewhat gone, two new challenges are upon the Presidio community: a fatal flu and the threat of mutant insects who kill their victims from the inside out. As the leaders of this group continue to rally against hunger, thirst and the lurking "Darkness" that still comes to some of the freaks as they sleep or use their powers, it is the evil that is set to rise once more that is the true danger. Once again, camps become divided and people are forced to choose their paths. Intense action and philosophical themes of good vs. evil dominate this novel. Where will Grant take his readers next????
