Six years ago at a random diner I met a stranger and he became the-one-who-got-awav, or more correctly the-one-who-didn't-show-up.

Firstly, thank you to Valentine PR (@valentine_pr_ ) for the advanced copy of this book! It was much appreciated! This was such a romcom. You know when some books that are romcoms don’t feel it - this definitely felt like a romcom. It was a good easy read and I think it would be great for the summer months/weather! It has some great tropes including: second chance, slow burn, office romance and she falls first but he falls harder. I did enjoy this, it was a light and fluffy read which was a perfect fit for what I was in the mood for! Although, her father was the worst and it was really frustrating to read. Also it’s very slow burned so be warned! Charlie, Love and Cliches is out now!!!

“What do you want from me?” I repeated her words softly.
“You,” she replied just as softly, eyes stuck on my lips.

Don't I deserve a William to my Charlie who would leave sweet notes for me and brings me my favourite food and looks at me like I'm everything he's ever wanted

think this is more of a 3.5?

During the start I didn’t really like how Charlie was “running” or trying to run away from him and it drives me up the wall for a bit…

But later on the character development wasn’t enough to show that banter and how he didn’t trust her at the end was like ???

Wait… I thought I loved her all these while and she is all you can think of but yet you “sort of” blamed her for something she didn’t do? I mean…

The best part of the entire book is pepperoni… he’s the cutest thing ever and omg… I want a pepp in my life too

This is my third Ella Maise’s book and sigh..as much as I want to love her books, I just..can’t.

This book was cute, fluffy, funny and heartwarming. A bit towards cheesy and cliché side (hence the title), but that was about it. Her books are all cute and cheesy and fluffy but there was absolutely no pull on it. None. I struggled a lot trying to finish this book and I just kept wondering, “how long? Please tell me this is almost done. Why is this dragging on forever?”.

I mean I’d still give some cute points to her, there’s no denying that this book will give you butterflies but after a while, it was…boring. It acted like it had its own plot but in reality, I don’t think there was any. So Charlie wasn’r happy working with her dad company, a guy who she had a serious crush on 6 years ago suddenly appeared and that was about it. It shouldn’t be 400 pages long. Can you believe it? The book that lived on that plot is 400 pages long. What could you possibly write about it for it to be that long? Ye, it was repeating itself from the start. And on top of that, since this book was also based on things Charlie wanted in her relationship, cliché things, you can imagine how repetitive and uncreative it got.

I liked Charlie, don’t get me wrong. I think she was cute, kind, capable of a lot of things. She lacked self-confident because of how her family treated her but she was actually really good with what she did. And because she was kind, she was a bit of a pushover, an I-will-argue-with-you-but-in-the-end-I-will-end-up-doing-things-you-asked-anyway kinda girl. But I was fine with that, after a while, she grew on me. William was ok. He was charming and cute and was obsessed with Charlie from the start. I liked him just fine and I kinda expected him to be exactly like this. A bit towards a boring side but still acceptable.

And the drama? What a pushover little shit. So what? It just ended like that? Nothing more? The fuck? Ye, I was not impressed in the slightest. It felt unfinished to me. And again, this book was long, but when it came to things that were kinda important, the author just decided, FUCK IT, I’M NOT WRITING ANYMORE. SIS. You focused on the wrong fucking thing, ffs. Calm down with the cheesy stuff and get serious with things that needed your attention, goddamnit.
