I started off liking this book, and then it slowly got worse and worse. I felt the hero often did things that the heroine was not comfortable with, and he then convinced her that she was okay with it by making out with her until she gave in. This happened several times, and I found it really problematic.
I liked the plot twist - he isn't just an underground and underworld MMA fighter - he is a billionaire and tech nerd. I liked the heroine - she was steady and wanted to do a good job and continue living life to the fullest. An overall good book.
2.5 stars.
If not for the narrator, I might have given it a 3-star. I don't like sports romances. Most of them are cliche with overly aggressive alpha types and these "please save me" chicks. The caveman is often wealthy and the damsel is often financial strapped. Then the authors tried to throw in some BDSM, how disappointing!

Holy shit that was bad. I only read it for a reading challenge (something that matches your most read type of book) (mine was adventures, emotional, lighthearted fiction between 300-499 pages long).
The writing and the characters and their actions just all made me annoyed. I didnt like anyone. Torment is very possessive, to the point it's not hot anymore. Makayla refuses help, to the point that it's annoying. She also hates violence and yet is working at Torments club?? Nahhhhhh that's not it. Plus he does some things sexually that are hot, but not when makayla acts like she does. They never really talk about kinks and hard limits, he just pushes her and she doesnt say no so they continue. I'm not about that.
20/10 would not recommend.

Funny and cute parts but a lot of cringe along with it.
I thought we were just going to have our hero be a fighter... and then he's also got a bunch of money, and into bdsm- complete with having your desk rigged up to tie anyone up at a moments notice and random rope wherever you go. (a lot of cringe in the dom parts but we're just gonna leave it)
What left me going what the fuck too much finishing was that they have each other's name tattooed on themselves -her name in a heart on his heart, and an I heart Max on her ass. I just. What.
Spoiler
Someone at your workplace inappropriately touching you at work is not ok, or asking out, or grinding on you at a club. Just any scene with Drake was a nope.I thought we were just going to have our hero be a fighter... and then he's also got a bunch of money, and into bdsm- complete with having your desk rigged up to tie anyone up at a moments notice and random rope wherever you go. Got to say. The cover is pretty hot and I was instantly drawn in. For the most part I was not disappointed. I am a fan of MMA fighting so that aspect was very interesting to read it when I usually watch it.
I liked how the two of them met that was just to fun I thought. She was pretty bold for the most part when she was checking on him after the first fight. I honestly never would have thought she would have been the type to just lean over and kiss a scar. Especially the more you read and get to know her. I mean where did that boldness go when she needed it?
Now on to him, okay I loved him for the most part. I did kind of have a bit of an issue with his insecurity. I don't know what else to call it. I would say possessiveness but I just can't seem to do that it screamed insecure to me. I mean he would get angry if men looked at her. He had anger issues also. Haha. And that was just a bit much at times.
The two of them together well it was cute I do have to say. She had a way with him that no other did. It was a mix of sweet and fun. She was so silly with him at times and that cracked me up. I am sure some may call it childish but I break out in randomness at times and just say some of the weirdest things, so for me that was believable :)
Last and not least I have to talk about the sex. Okay for me it was just awkward at times. I think the safe word could have been left out. And then adding in BDSM I get that it is the hottest thing because of other books but it just didn't come across that well for me. He seemed so untrained and not 100% there as a Dom, to be kinky is one thing and you can do that without trying to bring in BDSM. It just seemed strange at times. Don't get me wrong there were some parts that were hot. But the motorcycle scene was a bit on the "I'm not sold he is good at this" side.
Overall I absolutely loved the banter between the guys it was fun and it was sweet at times. There is an overall sweetness between him and her that is present. I do have to say when I finished, overall I did enjoy it.
