I really liked this book. It was captivating from the beginning however I feel the ending was quite anti-climatic.

Crow Lake is the story of families and tragedies, and how the way we react to and view the tragedies is often more central to our lives than the tragedies themselves. I found the characters in the book to be well rounded and real---I could see Mrs. Stanovich, laughed at Bo's antics, and revered Matt like the main character Kate did. But it was Kate herself that I liked most. Her stoicism and the walls she put up around her emotions seemed familiar to me, and the way emotion slipped in like water under a door shut tight but half an inch off the floor was beautiful. A good read---I think I'll pass this one off to Libbie.

A book about small town northern Ontario. Really a story about families and the "tragedies" that shape them and are shaped by them. I had really hoped for a store that went a bit deeper into the geography and feel of the land. I finished feeling sad and listless - despite the somewhat happy resolve.

Slow read but I finished in a day.
Was interesting to see how perspective can change a person's relationship.
I enjoyed the topics about the environmental and that poped up throughout the book.
