Given the theme (time traveling) it could have been much enthralling, but a nice read nevertheless.
I had seen the musical before picking up the book so I knew the overall story arcs, but it was so much more interesting getting to see Clare and Henry’s thoughts throughout their hectic lives. The book delves so much deeper into the struggles they face both because of and despite Henry’s time travel, and their romance felt more real when read through their POVs. 3.75 ⭐️

While I really, really, wanted to love this book because I'd heard so many great things about it, I just didn't. I had a difficult time feeling emotionally invested in the characters. I found Clare to be boring, detached, uninteresting, cold, and elitist. If the book was set in the late 1800's or early 1900's, I could have believed that the family would have a black woman named Mammie as their cook, but this was supposedly in the 1970's-1990's?!!
I also had a hard time believing that Henry, after years and years of womanizing, drinking, drugging, etc, drops all those behaviors for Clare just because she tells him they are supposed to get married. I never saw the passionate love story that others raved about.

I remember I bought my first copy of The Time Traveler’s Wife at Festival Walk, Kowloon Tong, Hong Kong in a bookstore called Page One. It must have been 2008 or 2009, and I remember being all choked up by this epic story of love.
A couple of years later, I bought another copy in Dutch (no memories of when and where

Enjoyed the movie as a teen but, reading as an adult now their relationship just seems creepy. Couldn't get past the ick factor.
This book was amazing. The only only books that have affected me so strongly were the Harry Potter series. I couldn't get the story out of my head all day!
