I went into this thinking it would be a popcorn book and, while it is (it made a great beach read), I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the writing and the depth of the characters.
It is definitely a formulaic romance and it's a fun read. Get ready for slow burn, friends to lovers, a third act 'breakup', alongside a journey of discovery, a beautiful friendship, and great characters.
9/10 would recommend

This was such a fun read! I did get frustrated when the characters made choices that didn't seem to make sense, but I think that's because they're younger than I am. We all got there in the end. And speaking of the end, it felt a little sappy to me. But overall it was very enjoyable--I laughed and cried right along with Poppy and Alex.

I can completely understand why people think this is the same sad plot of bffs accepting their deep love for each other but honestly, Emily is such a good writer cause I was eating this up… lmaooo. Anyway, I’ve been dealing with a lot in my personal life lately and this book was something to look forward to and a great read. It gave me butterflies and I found myself reading in bed at 2 AM on a weekday when I had work in the morning. I really enjoyed the book and recommend it if you want something that will give you hope in romcoms and give you a giddy feeling.
