After He Killed Me (Emma Fern #2)
by Natalie Barelli, Carly Robins (Narrator)

If you find yourself wondering if three makes a serial killer, and that thought applies to you, something is not going right in your life. After the accolades for her prize winning first novel, and all the fame and fortune, Fern is dismayed at how quickly people forget about her. Life was going nicely after she "convinced" her husband that he did want to stay in a marriage to her but now the glow is fading off of everything. And she is expected by her publisher to write another bestseller, which is not easy to do, since she didn't even write the first one (don't tell anyone or she'll have to kill you).

The story was a little slow to start, I was probably three hours in before it got really interesting for me. But once the crazy ramps up I was hooked. Fern, darling, you have problems and you are your biggest problem. And that is saying a lot, darling.

I enjoyed this second book in the Emma Fern duology although I had a hard time getting used to a different audiobook narrator, having listened to both books, back to back. With this narrator, Fern sounds especially whiny and high pitched at times, which is understandable. After all, things aren't going her way and she has trouble with impulse control. But just about everyone else is voiced with a higher voice than she has and every time a man speaks it threw me out of the story a bit since the men all seemed to have a nasally, high pitched voices. Maybe this book would have been better read than heard, for me.

Great ending!

I admit at times during this story I became a little bored. But the ending was awesome and a perfect way to end this story! Natalie Barelli has written some wonderful thrillers!
