Wolverine: Origin is more a graphic novel than a comic, and explains how Wolverine / Logan came to be.
As the book already advances in its foreword, the story has a [b: Tom Sawyer|24583|The Adventures of Tom Sawyer|Mark Twain|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1404811979s/24583.jpg|41326609] feel to it. It begins with the life in a large estate in rural America: kids playing outside, having little adventures, creating bounds... That part of the story, as we could foresee, eventually develops into a tragic event. After that event, there's a second section that, in a way, reminds of [b: The Call of the Wild|1852|The Call of the Wild|Jack London|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1452291694s/1852.jpg|3252320]: the story moves to the North, to a small mining settlement. Work there is hard: chopping wood, hunting, the mining itself... These two scenarios help build up our hero's personality.
If anything, some of the characters evolved in a strange way, maybe a bit too rushed. However, although that would not be OK for a regular book, I think it is OK for a graphic novel.
In any case, it is a must-read for X-Men fans!

I really disliked this series. It was disjointed and difficult to follow. The dialogue was trite. The characters were flat. And it packed in more cliches than I thought possible for a six-issue series. Perhaps the creators were trying too hard to pack their series full of references and connections for fans, but it just doesn't work as a story.
I used to read X-men in the 80s and loved this chance to reconnect with Wolverine. This story is beautifully illustrated and wonderfully told. A couple of racy bathing scenes, but her hair is in the way- you know.
Well, the story is totally unintelligible, but the art is pretty neat, innovative for its time.
