Story of one family in 1969 on Nantucket/Martha’s Vineyard. Engaging and entertaining without being too deep. A nice, casual read with a plot that moves at just the right par.

Meh. Other than each chapter being the title of a 60s song, and one chapter about Ted Kennedy leaving Mary Jo Kopechne to drown, there were only scant references to 1969 that were accurate.
The ending was abrupt and totally unsatisfying. Not sure it even deserves 3 stars.

A summer delight even if it was incredibly predictable

Another great island story from Hilderbrand, this with a touch of the 60's and all those family secrets coming to roost.

The coming together of a family

Great book. Awesome beach read. I was constantly stressed about Tiger but this was a true beach read. Will definitely read more Elise Hildebrand books!

This was honestly a great summer read. I haven't read any other Elin Hilderbrand novels, but I think I might try another one before the summer is over. I loved the setting, the late 60s into the 70s is one of my favorite time periods and it was a fun read.

“It’s a revelation. Her mother is a human being who feels pain—sadness, loneliness, confusion. Jessie thought all grown-ups lived in a different atmosphere, one that was like a cool, clear gel. Adults had problems, Jessie knew—money and their children—but one of the benefits of reaching adulthood, she thought, was that you outgrew the raw, hot, chaotic emotions of adolescence.”

A touching story following the Nichols / Foley / Levin clan and their magical, coming of age, patriotic summer of 1969.

Everything I wanted from a summer beach read ❤️

Review to come.

Definitely one of her best stories, a great time period to drop into this large family and their drama
