Amazing book. I learned a lot and I feel like I gained a new perspective in a lot of areas. This book is also very readable and even if someone usually avoids nonfiction I think they would enjoy it. I recommend this book to everyone as a must read.

this book is the personification of the phrase: "I can't stand yall n*ggas"

It lost a star because there were still a lot of defending of some prominent white women's wrongdoings, even when the author wrote with care and tried not to do so. It's not her fault but still

You think things are bad, but it turns out they’re much worse (the story of 2020). Pair this book with Hood Feminism!

Thoughtful, perceptive. And sometimes painfully accurate.

Strongly recommended for people who love women.

This book fees more like a collection of other people’s work. The work discussed is super important, but I had read many of the references she cited and they do a better job.
I think maybe if you were looking for a starting place this would lead to some great people to look up.
I think the main reason I didn’t give it more stars is that it just had this feeling of taking other people’s hard work and then using the author’s status as a via-white woman to profit off others hard work and research by summarizing it.
