*SPOILER*

WHERE DO I EVEN BEGIN.

The first book was good ngl. I love how their story unfolded from a "she fell first but he fell harder." I also loved the introduction between Mali, Cam, H, and Laiken friendships. I continued reading this series because I was interested to see how their story would unfold since they are both so young. BUT pls tell me why did Kelsey spent 300+ pages talking about how in love they are as if we did not know that from the first book? Literally, the last 200 pages of the first book was about H confessing his love to Lai and himself. Then, he finally grew some fucking balls to tell Cam about it. However, the second book was when shit went completely downhill for me.

The second book was a fucking chokehold and it was not in a good way. It started off with the confession from H to Cam, which was dramatic. After this confession, it was about how they're so in love, marriage, a fuck ton of sex, then repeat. Then, she sprinkle Monty in out of nowhere to keep any form of plot going. I honestly struggled so fucking hard with this book because I wanted to DNF by 50%. I switched over to audiobook and made it through the end. OFC, Kelsey ended the book with Lai leaving. May I add that Laiken pisses me the fuck off in this book? I get her friend died and I sympathize. BUT YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY BE A DUMBASS TO HOW HE WAS FEELING AND HOW HE WAS SUCH A MANIPULATING ASSHOLE?!

The third book started off so strong and I really wish I can say it finished that way too. However it did not. Laiken GROVELED for H (as she should) but also wtf she's still a dumb bitch. I was less mad at Lai in this book because she kind of took a back seat and let her friends helped her? Good LORD. Anyways, it's MONTY ya'll. He's the fucking stalker. I really thought it was Riley, then suddenly it's Monty (bc yes you can survive a gunshot to the abdomen before getting tossed into the sea). BE SO FUCKING FR with me right here. Did I shed a tear when Lai came back and H is broken as fuck? Yes. Did I also want to gouge my eyes out because I wasted so much fucking time on this series? ALSO YES.

The entire series built up to be a similar plot to Pretty Little Liars. I didn't realized this until the 3rd book but what a tragedy. I really thought this was going to end much differently. My review from the 2nd book still stands. I wished Kelsey combined this whole plot into a 600 pg book and called it a day. This was unfortunately another one of the booktok rec and I wanted to scream at the top of my lungs. I wasted so much fucking time reading this series and pls I need it back.

Laiken’s and Hayes’ marriage has an uncertain future as Hayes tries to trust Laiken again. The pressure of continuous danger and trauma doesn’t help any of them (including malley and Cam) with moving forward and healing. It’s clear there another threat and they might be closer than they previously assumed.

—I enjoyed this series. Especially because it explored forgiveness in a marriage after Laiken left. It’s a perspective that we don’t often get in a romantic thriller, and the author did a great job keeping both characters in a good light so the reader felt empathetic to both sides. She also did a great job with timing. Too many authors jump to reconciliation without exploring the conflicted emotions that surround trust after heartbreak, leading it to feel trivial and disingenuous, but that’s not the case with this book. The performers for the audio version were pleasant to listen to and each character sounded different, resulting in clarity and feeling immersed in the story.

I was really mad at the cliffhanger of the second book and curiosity killed the cat with this one lol. I love their love story, so the first half of this literally felt like being stabbed in the heart repeatedly. Every time I would get my hopes up something would happen and I felt just as cleaved in two as the characters. I read this in an afternoon literally speed reading cause I wanted to get to the point where the mortally wounding each other was done with. It is a 5 star read for me solely for the fact that these characters feel like a part of me now😭
The ending was a tad predictable in the fact that I guessed Monty was still alive but Riley was out of left field for sure. I appreciate the fact that it was a well planned/explained plot line with the introduction of her mom.

This one was my favorite out of the trilogy! I started this series just expecting a cute hockey romance and I was not expecting any of this! The amount of times I had to pause and process it all because it was so unexpected is crazy. I would love a book on Mali and Cam’s relationship!
