It made me laugh and it made me cry. I thought I hated Cherry until I didn’t. Liane is an auto buy author.

I loved this book. I am thinking Liane Moriarty might become a must-read author for me. The first book I read by her was “The Husband’s Secret” during my exchange in Sydney. Seeing the names of places or neighborhoods in Sydney did bring back the lovely memories from my exchange, but that was not what made me love this book.
First of all, I love the premise. It is a very interesting thought experiment and I love the way it was executed. It made me stop and reflect about how i lead my life and what my beliefs about faith are.
Secondly, there is such a wholesome, deeply human way that Moriarty’s characters interact. It makes you want to treasure the people close to you more.
I loved all the storylines of the characters that had their deaths predicted. At the beginning I was impatient with Cherry’s chapters and wanted to get back to the main action. Only after about half of the book I realized that Cherry’s life is actually the main plot. Slowly, I fell in love with her personality, her dry, factual, yet funny way of talking and by the end of her story, I was in tears.
It’s been a while since I cried at a book. This book caused a sort of beautiful sadness. A sadness that comes from wholesome interactions in difficult times. A sadness that can only be felt when you are fortunate enough to have wonderful people to love in your life.
It’s strange how a book about death managed to leave me feeling so light and grateful. I hope I keep this feeling and manage to look for the little joys in life and to not be afraid to make changes when needed.
