I really wanted to like this more than I did as it came highly recommended, but unfortunately it wasn’t a runaway hit for me. A story of two fathers, brought together in their quest for vegance after the murder of their sons. Throughout, both grapple with how their homophobia towards their sons destroyed their relationship. I liked the fast paced, whodunnit aspects of this novel but did struggle a bit with the intense graphic nature of it. If you have a weak stomach, this book likely won’t go over super well. Our characters are as morally grey as you can get, stopping at nothing to attain their own version of justice. I think there is a conversation to be had here about how the only way these characters were able to accept their sons was at the cost of their lives.

This book was an emotional journey as two homophobic fathers attempt to find out exactly what happened to their sons and avenge them.

The journey of them learning from their hateful history and opening their minds to accepting people for who they are, not who they love...well I'm an emotional mess now.

Beautifully written I'll definitely be checking out more of this authors work.

This book deserves all the stars.

The imagery was incredible, I felt like I was right along for the ride.

“We’re done letting them down.”

Two vigilante fathers take matters into their own hands as the police investigation into their married sons, -Isiah and Derek- deaths has grown cold. Ike and Buddy Lee go full cowboy into this investigation all in an effort of justice for their sons. These deeply flawed characters are desperately trying to do right by their sons, even if it’s too late for them to know it.

The initial feeling of Ike and Buddy Lee is that they don’t deserve to grieve or feel that amount of loss after the way they each treated their sons while they were alive... By the end of this book you’re grieving for the relationships that should have been had between Ike and Isiah, and Buddy Lee and Derek. You feel the loss of Buddy Lee and proud that he went for fighting for his boy and his husband.
