Both books were just wonderful. I like the way JSF packs his story with history and love and emotion, and that I'm never quite sure what order everything happens in or who is talking at any point.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close is a story of healing. Of forgiveness, I think. Of letting go and taking it all. It's a story that left you a little bit empty but relieved. Or I guess it won't left you at all, because you will now growing with the story inside your hearts. It's a story that make you want to watching a bit more, to hear a lot more, to say more, of people, of your surroundings, of everything. Because who knows if tonight's going the last. (Also, it's not unnecessary saying I love you to the person you love whilst they are here.)

I do not see how to add this to my book count given that I read it in January of this year. Thus a different edition. Same claim: review to come.

I still need to read Everything is Illuminated.

I have read both of these books. I gave Everything is Illuminated a 4/5 stars, and gave Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close a 5/5 stars, because it's my favorite book.

I own this copy, but haven't read the two books out of this edition. I read them in their individual copies. Was just going through my Goodreads and noticed that I hadn't added this one though.

I enjoyed Alex's bit much more than going back into the past. It definitely is a book to pull on your heart strings, but Foer tries too damn hard sometimes and it comes off as forced.
