A beautiful exploration of grief and loss. I wished I had Kang’s words to eloquently describe how I feel when I experience the loss of my beloved grandma. I wished my pain could effectively dissipate with every word I use to say my farewell and entomb my feelings of longing, of words and conversations I still have every time I think of her.
While the prose was lyrical and had the quality of transporting readers to a different place and invoke ethereal feelings, I found the organization of separate topics rather disjointed, similar to Han Kang’s Greek Lessons. This is purely preferential, as I am the type who’d prefer plot-heavy or books with heavier focus on characters rather than journal-like thoughts. I’d recommend this for people who are in the mood to explore feelings, instead of plot/action.

This was a nice read. The prose well suited and I experienced a new way to look at the color white. I need to read more of Kang's work.

The discussions of grief, motherhood and still birth in this book were well done and important. That being said I often zoned out and because this book was more of a meditation I at times got lost.

This is the third book I have read of Han Kang, and so far Human Acts (the first book of hers I read) is still my favorite. The way this book handled grief and death was really beautiful tho, peaceful almost without actually being peaceful... Don't know if that makes any sense, but in my mind it does.
Definitely want to read more books of hers in the future, I quite love her writing style and the way she views the world.

This was a really touching and interesting book. The format is one of poems mixed with photos and the whole thing is incredibly evocative. I am bad at reading poetry, so I'd have to read each poem a few times to let it sink in. It left me with a feeling of grief and heaviness.
