Brilliantly readable book consumed within a weekend. It’s very witty, but unexpectedly heavy in parts. Please be aware of trigger warnings before you start.

Very nice read, i pretty much devoured it and it was easy to read.
The story was so inspiring yet revolting. I'm so glad it had an happy ending.
Also Six-Thirty's POV >>>>> (it's the dog)
Also a sweet reconciliation with chemistry...

-10 ⭐... WTF... Apart from being absolutely ridiculous and flat... It really annoyed the hell out of me. "Had to" read it for a book club.. But I just can't... Dnfd it at the 2. sexual assault scene... That is supposed to be feminist satire set in the 50s and 60s? Yeah.. RIGHT... I think sexual assault is really funny - LOL... Wtf...

Spoiler:

the female protagonist gets sexual assoulted for the 2nd time (first time brutally raped!!) and, when this Harvey Weinstein-kind-of-type-TV-Producer pulls down his pants... Her reaction to it is this?:

"she shook her head in wonder. She had no idea why men believed women found male genitalia impressive or scary"

... Wtf!? NO just NO!!! I regret sooo much that this author! got any money from me, because I unfortunately PAID MONEY FOR THIS PIECE OF SHIT!!!

So far I just find Elizabeth and her precocious child very annoying. I checked out some Goodreads reviews and I'm not convinced they will get less annoying. She's not like other girls! And have you considered that gender discrimination is bad?? Wild stuff.

I liked the first half of this book more than the second. In the beginning, I found Elizabeth charming and her story quite relatable. She shines as a beacon of reason and feminism in witty book. By the halfway point, however, I felt that Garmus was being heavy handed with her message of "men are bad and religion is bad". Although the narrative leans into hyperbole in order to illustrate its cast, I found the character mold for every single man was repeatedly either malicious or stupid, while the character mold for every single religious person was either flat out evil or too dumb to have ever thought about their beliefs. Unfortunately this misrepresentation really took away from my ability to enjoy the story.
