If you like smut in between gruesome torture and murder then this is the book for you. It’s not my cuppa tea, but to each their own. I felt like most of the book was sex. I wish there was more development from when Hook/James started to fall for Wendy. It felt like he switched  from wanting her for  revenge then loving her… just a little odd.

The end was nice and heartwarming, though so there’s a plus

It’s not a retelling, McIntire tells you that from the beginning, but I really do enjoy it. Dark romance, villain gets the girl, that’s my shit. I did think Wendy was won over by James a bit too fast (both times), but I like them both as characters. The plot twist was an easy one to guess, though.

Dark Romance, Insta Love, 3 3/4 🔥

Uuuuuuuughhhhh. She’s just too dumb for me. Was the smut fun? Yes.
Did I physically cringe at all the torture? Yes.
Was I initially rooting for them? Yes.
Does Wendy have any concept of contraception? No.

I found many of the Peter Pan references to be overly obtuse and deserving of eye-rolls.
I really wanted to like this. Their chemistry was bangin’ (heh) but I just could not.

The smut in this book is frequent so if that's what you're looking for, look no further. However if you desire some variety or a more dense vocabulary look elsewhere.

This is a Dark Romance Fairytale Retelling of Peter Pan. Drug lords pushing pixie dust, and fighting over territory plus a revenge driven MMC. You just can't go wrong here. The MMC is Hook and the MFC is Wendy. I flew through this book. I'm usually a pretty slow reader but this I finished in a day. Peter Pan is my favorite story of all time so i wanted to give this retelling a chance and it did not disappoint. Is it like the original Peter Pan? No, not at all, it is quite spicy. Did the author find ways to interweave characters and things from the original story into her retelling flawlessly? Yes she absolutely did that. I would rate the spice 5 peppers! There is a lot of spice and it is very detailed. There is quite a bit of violence also just a heads up. Consider that your trigger warning. I can't wait to read the others in the series!
