I appreciated the pace of this book and that it was fast paced but I felt like the characters could have used more time to develop. I never really cared about either of them. I also thought that the amount of references to the movie was fun but overall the book seemed to read a bit childish to me. Childish with some very not childish scenes

Got like 2 chapters in. Maybe I’m on the wrong side of tiktok or something bc this book was a wee bit too dark for me but like….to each their own

This is a dark romance and the romance part of the book is what I liked the least. It was uncomfortable. But everything else about this book I liked!
Hmmm. Honestly a 2.5 rounded up. There were just a few too many villains things against FMC that I just couldn’t fully get on board. It was mostly entertaining. Very predictable, I had the whole end worked out. The pacing and the order in which things happened felt a little off but definitely willing to try the next books as encouraged by friends

This book was kind of fun and entertaining, but not really my cup of tea overall.
I appreciated the link to the trigger warnings at the beginning of the book. I knew what I was in for. There were no surprises as far as sensitive topics were concerned. Though not explicitly stated in the content warnings, there is also sexual arousal associated with murder and violence, so just be prepared for that as it caught me a bit by surprise.
The relationship dynamic between the MMC and FMC is something I probably would have enjoyed when I was younger, but at this time I found the possessiveness off-putting. Again, not really the book’s fault—just a personal preference and something I would be mindful of before reading it. In general, the MMC also seems like he gets turned on very easily (and is often hard).
I found that I was much more interested in everything happening outside of the romance. The plot was entertaining and had some tense suspenseful moments. The references to Peter Pan throughout were a really nice touch.
There were some parts that I highlighted that I genuinely thought were well-written. In particular, there are a few standout descriptions. It definitely had me “hooked” from the first few lines of the prologue as well.
Example of a nice spoiler-free description:
“The silence is suffocating as it wraps its way around my throat and stuffs into my ears, allowing room for my thoughts to grow wild and uninterrupted.”
The writing itself was alright, and as I mentioned above, I highlighted several passages and phrases that I enjoyed as I worked my way through the novel. I’d be willing to try another book by this author that includes tropes that are more suited to my tastes.
