Un poco desencantada. Me esperaba una gran historia y me he encontrado con un kamasutra con síndrome de Estocolmo. Al menos, la lectura se hace amena.

I really enjoyed this book! I so badly wished the ending was longer than it was! The read was super quick and I was drawn in and obsessed within the 3rd chapter.

For anyone who loves Peter Pan, but doesn’t necessarily need the magical component. This dark retelling of Peter Pan focuses on James Barrie (Hook) and Wendy Michaels. This was thrilling and kept my interest throughout the whole book.

This is the second Emily McIntire book I've read and I love her writing style. The subtle and not so subtle winks to the story its loosely based on. The characters are all great and the dialogue is engaging.

I was never a huge fan of Peter Pan he always seemed more like a bad guy to me but thats a whole rabbit hole to dive down. Peter in this book is definitely a villain and while is isn't a good guy he atleast has a moral compass. Wendy was naive and a little to tame bit it got the story I guess I would have liked a little more sass we saw it a few times but not nearly enough.

I listened to this on audible. It’s loosely inspired by Peter Pan in a modern setting with a mob-boss forbidden romance twist. The plot didn’t really work for me but the Peter Pan inspo was fun.

Hmm okay 3.4/5. Honestly I read it quickly and never felt bored, but I think the technique and like pacing of this book was off. Don’t get me wrong I was entertained, but I didn’t feel anything relationship wise was expanded enough for me to like feel emotions. Like Wendy is supposed to be this innocent character and legit gives out at the first opportunity and is like bold? Also the plot twist was so predictable I clocked each part, like damn don’t make it THAT easy. Idk I just didn’t really care for Wendy and thought she was weak, not innocent. Like they just have sex and she’s in love… also how is she just going to brush over the fact that James and Jon are brothers. Like how did Jon feel bruh. Overall I would def read more in this series cuz Ik I liked the second book, and I think the more she writes the better technicality and substance it will have.

Spoiler Summary:
James/Hook wants revenge on Peter Michaels. His daughter walks into the bar and James is hooked lol. He realizes who she is so he wants to use her as a ploy to fuck with Peter but ends up caring for her. He starts to get paranoid and think she’s apart of it so he kidnaps her blah blah. Then he realizes she really doesn’t know how evil her father is. Turns out his bff/first mate Smee is the traitor bc he killed his dad (James’ uncle). And turns out Wendy’s brother is also James’ half brother…. Like weird. Anyways, she shoots her father. Married Hook, then had kids.

Notes:
He sees her through security cameras of his club and is instantly enamoured so he tells them to let her in even tho she’s only 20

HA the bitchy girl comes just to try to see Hook… karmaaa: “Maria swears he’s her soul mate, so every weekend she shows back up, her eyes peeled ”

Oh he realizes she’s Wendy Michaels: “I know her, of course. The daughter of the man whom I’ve been keeping tabs on since I was eleven years old.”

He makes a waitress blow him as he watches Wendy through his cameras

He follows her cab to make sure she gets home safe

He shows up to the café she works at as she’s getting yelled at by a customer: “Do you have a tendency to let small men speak to you in such a way, darling?”

“Thank you though, for standing up for me.”“He was a cad, darling.” His eyes glint. “Not worthy to taste the air you breathe.”

He kidnaps and kills the man being mean to her

Okay vip treatment: “I nod, and he turns back to Curly. “These ladies are the most important people here, understand? Their money’s no good, and you give them anything they ask for.”

He keeps asking her to go on a date with him

“When will I get my date, darling?”“When do you want it?”“Yesterday.” I press into her. “Now.” She stumbles into the cab’s door. “Tomorrow.”

She’s supposed to be like innocent but legit gets up and sits on his lap… then straddles him when he kisses her

“He moves, lifting my body so he can settle in behind me, and I curl up on him, his large hand stroking my hair and whispering words of praise.”

“Wendy becoming a weakness is painstakingly obvious. Especially after I carried her off the sundeck to my personal quarters, and then proceeded to watch her sleep”

Okay chill she tells him “I’m yours” right after their first date

Aw Ru:
“You’re the closest thing I’ve ever had to a son,” he says.”

He saw Wendy once when they were very young

OK, but like he only feels this way after sexual things not them actually talking or bonding: “And in this moment, I’m not sure how I’ll let her go.”

Oh. Um. : “I hadn’t planned to come inside her. But the thought of her swelling with my child right in front of her father’s eyes—right before I slit his throat, had my balls tightening and cum shooting out of my tip before I could even finish the fantasy.”

He helps take her brother Jon to boarding school

He has a talk with Jon‘s headmaster to threaten that the staff will treat him well

Omg Ru was murdered at the meeting James was late to nooo

Ooh, he thinks Wendy is secretly working with her father

He kidnaps her and cuffs her to the dungeon

Ooh she acting out to piss off her dad: “So, how did you two meet?” She waves her champagne glass between us.I take a sip of whiskey. Because you sent her into my bar, you pathetic swine.“He already told you, didn’t he?” Wendy cocks her head. “He popped my cherry.” Gasps sound around the table, and I choke on the liquid of my drink, my hand shooting to my chest to stifle the cough.”

Even tho he legit kidnapped her and wants to kill her she wants to calm him: “The shock of her touch is enough to clear the red haze filming over my eyes. She leans in, pressing a kiss to my cheek. “Take a deep breath. People are starting to stare,” she whispers.”

Oh shit he realizes he fucked up and she truly doesn’t know what’s going on LOL. He thought she was in on it so like tortured her for no reason…

Damn she begs hook not to kill her father , but her father doesn’t do the same for her…

I am laughing because he’s still openly deciding if he’s gonna kill her or not: “Hook turns to me then, his hand reaching out and cupping my face, his thumb swiping away the tears as they fall. “It’s impossible not to care for you, Wendy. If it was, you’d already be dead.”

Calling it now Smee is evil and behind the bar burning down

“I was angry that she made me worry.I was raging that she makes me feel.”

“I don’t like her knowing me as Hook, especially when she’s the only person in this world who makes me feel like James.”

Moira is secretly plotting against him and is “the woman” I bet u

SMEE IS DEF “Croc” BYEEE

“I ’ve never done a drug in my life, but I imagine it feels similar to the way it does when Wendy courses through my veins.All-consuming.”

Wait why is like his whole team secretly against him. The Starkey guy shot the victim before he could expose the woman’s name

“You are, without a doubt, the only good I’ve ever known.” I rest my forehead on hers, my shaky breaths ghosting across her lips, my thumb rubbing against her cheek.”

He finally takes his shirt off and she sees his scars: “It’s in this moment that I know, as crazy as it seems, that I love her.And that terrifies me more than anything else ever has.”

Knew ittt Moira is one of the traitors

Aww she finds out James has been calling her brother everyday to check up on him

Damn Peter really dgaf if Wendy gets hurt huh

I KNEW IT. SMEE IS BEHIND IT ALL

Okay and Starkey is also a traitor. Clocked all of these byeee

I’m confused cuz now Peter just killed Smee and Starkey

Another plot twist apparently James has a brother and I bet u it’s fawkin Jon

Wait I’m confused are they lowkey related
