I really struggled with this art style. I didn't enjoy it, and made many parts hard to follow.

I have a lot of nostalgia for the anime so of course I'm going to enjoy this Manga in a biased sort of way. The art style, while quirky and unique, is sometimes really off in a way that was either intentional or just lazy. You can tell the artist is competent and talented in some panels and in others it seems low effort.

The story is different from the anime and a bit disjointed in terms of the sequence of events and the transition between settings isn't always clear. The action scenes/panels are very energetic but also hard to decipher what is actually going on. If you like the anime, you'll probably enjoy this too, but not as much as the original.

The book is nearly entirely different than the anime for the most part, which makes reading it an interesting experience. It's a bit darker than the anime but in different ways than you'd expect.

My only issue is that the way the panels are set up makes reading things confusing here and there. With certain scenes you can't really tell who's talking at first or what certain characters are doing. The direction the artist takes with his art at times can be confusing too.

It's worth the read though 100%

(Wish they decided to continue this story in the anime that's out this summer/fall.)

furi kuri

absolutely beautiful art and an interesting retelling of FLCL, with some very cool added themes

Excellent-surrealistic, a bit random, and different enough from the anime to be worth reading, without departing from the established ways in which the characters think and act. It's also somewhat darker and more violent than the anime, but in a good way. If you're a fan of Furi Kuri, read it, it's worth it.

definitely wouldn't recommend this to someone who hasn't watched the anime, I don't think. but I still love this. its weird, and chaotic, and fun.

Right off the bat I was confused by the plot and it was a little too fast-paced for me. I don’t regret the purchase, but I should’ve probably watched the anime instead even though I’ve heard it’s just as confusing (sometimes visuals help though.)
