Call and Tamara finally kissed ahhhhhhhh

This was a…strange book? I didn’t hate it or anything, but it was different from the others.

1. What was up with Alex’s dialogue? He sounded like some 5 year old throwing a tantrum. It wasn’t realistic.
2. The whole jumping bodies a bunch of times from the past thing just wasn’t a topic that should have been introduced in the last book. It was weird.
3. I’m sad that only like 3 people know Aaron is alive, they should have told Jasper at least.

*2.5

Wrapped up way too neatly and cleanly but ehhh still fun and still read it in like a day. A fun series for middle grades who might be reading at a lower level

3.5 stars. Still a good series, but the ending wasn't as good as some of the others in the series in my opinion. It seemed rushed in some places and didn't make a lot of sense in others. I was a little disappointed. That said, I liked the series overall and I'm sad that it is over. It seems like there could be more because I was left with some questions. But I got another series checked off on my list of series that I need to finish!

While I’d let my 9-12 year old read this middle grade fantasy tale, there is better stuff out there (JK Rowling, Chris Colfer, Kate DiCamillo, Roald Dahl, Eoin Colfer). It’s fairly tame (a few kisses and ‘making outs’ sans details, with some petty big-kid insults thrown around), yet has enough magical adventure and social grey-area discussion topics for older children to tackle. Fledgling adolescents may enjoy the challenges of the ‘meet your inner demons’ analogies presented. It’s all wrapped up in a modern American setting, replete with slang, first-world conveniences, and fast-food suppers.

Another middle-of-the-road THREE from Holly Black for me; I imagine a 13 year old boy might find it engaging…

2,5 stars out of 5.

Ayyyys... Por fin. Espero que, al menos, sirva a los más pequeños como una excusa para adentrarse en el mundo de la lectura. Sin duda es una literatura que superé hace mucho, mucho tiempo.

En palabras de la venerable Ariana Grande: thank you, next.
