Guessed the big reveal early on so a bit predictable! Would still read the second.

The beginning sounded promising; witchy, gothic, carnival vibes. The build up of the story and the manor were intriguing to be begin with and I liked the idea of the seven circles of hell and competing in each level of this. But there were times in the book where the smut/sex scenes were so unnecessary and it ruined the story for me. I.e. (spoiler) she kills someone then in the immediate scene afterwards she’s bonking the mmc, yet she was apparently traumatised by the murder? Personally that took me out of the story and ruined the impact of what just happened in the level. Not every novel needs to have smut scenes 24/7, make it worthwhile

Author wants to call people Nazi's for showing compassion to the murder of a human being. Doesn't deserve a fan base.

This book is weird. The first half pretty slow to read, but the story is moving along quickly. It doesn’t always make sense.

Ophelia is weirdly attached to her dead mothers wishes, her sister is annoyingly deceptive, and then as soon as she enters this phantasma place to find her sister she’s screwing someone she shouldn’t even be talking to.

The trials begin with a vague clue which would be better if explained during the trials because they seem like a waste to even read minus one line or so.

Sex is introduced about halfway through, not surprisingly it’s the best she’s ever had, but also she’s only had one lover before and said she felt nothing, so not sure how she so quickly knows what to do and that it’s just the most amazing. Also she went from shy to fucking herself I front of the phantom very quickly and it’s a bit unbelievable to me.

Lastly as I’m finishing the book I realize I’ve pretty much read this story before. Now I’m on the hunt to find the other story I read that’s almost the exact same and figure out who did it first and which one was better. I’m thinking the other one, but I’ll give credit where it’s due if this one came first.

BOTM 2024 Finalist: wow. I loved this book. The description of OCD was so relatable to me and my own mental machinations. I love the spice. I loved the story. Reminded me a great deal of TAZ Suffering Game. I really really enjoyed. I read in 2 sittings.
