A great comical story of growth and endurance as a teenager in religious household. Includes many modern references to music and television. Relatable but better suited for a younger audience than I.

- 5/5
- Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes.
- Honestly, the review that I typed on my phone (to later put here) doesn't have many complete sentences...just a lot of exclamation points. That's on me.
- importance of (sex) education (and knowing one's body) and consent
Confessions of an Alleged Good Girl does an amazing job at showing how, although sex can just be sex (nothing more or less than that, although there's no shame if you place more emotional emphasis on it), it should still be done for the right reasons. In other words, it should be for you, and not for anyone else, regardless of what your sexual partner tries to tell you!
- Women! Solidarity between women! And the unconditional love that often comes (or should come) with female relationships (between mothers and daughters, friends, etc.)!
- sincere and loving take on religion and faith

I could definitely relate to a lot of the main character's thoughts and emotions, and I loved how beautifully raw this story was. DOM YOU ARE ON MY HIT LIST (if you know, you know). Anyways, I loved the relationships in this book and also how candidly it talked about issues like vaginismus and navigating sex for the first time through the eyes of a girl, because I feel like that's rarely talked about. REGGIE YOU ARE SUCH A PRECIOUS BEAN! Easy 5/5 stars for me because JOYA YOUR PEN IS UNDENIABLE <33

I LOVED this book. Everything was spot on and perfect. No notes. The characters felt real. The pacing was great. It was perfect from start to finish. This book is for anyone who has experienced religious trauma related to sex and deals with shame/guilt around sex. You can tell that the author is well educated on this experience, because she handles it with the tact that is needed but doesn’t make the atmosphere overly doom and gloom. I wish I had this book when I was a teen, but it still healed me in my 20s. So good that I don’t have anything else to say, but that I will be reading more from this author.

hands down, this is one of my favorite YA books of all time!!!! i tend to think i'm not a YA girlie, but then i read YA books like this that heal a piece of my inner child and i just know i'm playing in my own face. i laughed. i cried. i felt seen and appreciated. i was lowkey scared to read this because of the purity culture aspect, but goffney did such a great job at pushing against it and that made me cry even more. monique is THAT girl, and i just wanted to give her the biggest hug ever.
