Holly suffers from a big case of main-character-itis.
So many things happen to her simply because she is the focus of the story. Who is Sharon, and why are they best friends? How did Holly and Gerry meet and date and how did they get to have such a strong connection to each other? No one was memorable. I kept forgetting who John was, and I had to use the search function on my Kindle to see if we had met Jaime and Jennifer and Helen before. Everything culminated at the ball at the end, but the only thing that was shared about the ball before that was how Holly bought a "very very 'spensive white dress" and spill red wine on herself at a past ball.
I wasn't invested in any of the relationships in this book: with Holly's family, Holly's friends, Holly's marriage... there is so much exposition.
I got sick and tired of Holly snapping at everyone. Most everyone acts childish and immature. It was an odd read and I sped read just to finish it.

The book is good, it's a romance novel, not the greatest one but it's about tragedy and people living in modern societies might be able to relate to it easily, it deals with heartbreak, family and how a broken heart can be mended, fixed and broken again by sheer love of a paramore. Overall it's a well-written book with a relatable story with glimpses of brilliance. Cecelia has written the character of the protagonist very well and one connects with her instantly, it's like love at first sight but not quite.

I've lost count of how many times I cried over this book and I don't feel guilty at all.

Beautiful and sad both. It is a long book, but it move along so well you do not notice.
