I have just finished this book and I have to say......I preferred the movie adaptation. I know people are going to view this and think me of my head, but I just felt the film flowed better. Was smooth and fitted together better. The book went on a bit and became a bit whiney near the end too. I think the screen writers had better ideas for the book then Cecelia Ahern did. Have three more of her books, shall investigate Ahern further.
Definitely had some sad moments, but had a lot of happy ones too. Easy to move through the book pretty quickly. I'd not read anything from the perspective of a modern young widow/widower before, so I appreciated the new angle, which made me think about how I might face a similar struggle.
Picked this up because I enjoyed the movie adaptation so much, and, well -- I'm glad I saw the movie first, because I wouldn't have gone to see based on this book. I mean, it was fine. The premise is engaging -- dead man helping his grieving wife to move on with her life through a series of letters he left for her -- but the writing was just so painfully purple that I nearly chucked it across the room a couple of times.
I never thought I'd find myself saying this, but: go see the movie and skip the book.

I saw the movie before reading the book but it didn't make me love the book any less. I think I cried the whole time and couldn't put it down. Great book
I don't know which I liked more, the movie or the book. The movie is different in a lot of respects. The book is good in its own way and as long as you don't go comparing to, you'll be fine. The novel didn't invoke emotion from me like the movie did. There were cute moments and I liked how it played out. I might've liked the movie more. Either way, a good read.

It's a love story.the story of Jerry and holly who got separated when fate came to their life in the form of Jerry's death. But holly continued to love him and he had prepared everything for her to live the coming years without him.
Holly who couldn't do even the smallest work like turning off the bedside lamp without Jerry turned out to be a strong exploring and determined women in a year just because of the letters that he left behind for her before he left.
Its sounds dramatic but the essence of true love is filled in every chapters of the book. Living in a generation where love has lost its meaning this book truly reminds us of unconditional love.
I am giving only three stars because there is nothing so happening in the book it's a plain read that flows smoothly through Holly's life
