3.8 AVERAGE

Love the audible narrator, love the change of characters from the film, still slightly insufferable but good if you can ignore how ridiculous the girls can be sometimes.

I probably would never have read this book if they weren’t making a movie out of it. Ahern has realistically captured the ups and downs of a woman whose life has fallen apart and how she picks herself back up and moves on, one step at a time. I am looking forward to the movie- but “God-Shaped Hole” is better.

If you have seen the movie and not read the book, forget what you saw in the movie. The books is so much better. This book will make you cry. This book will make you sob. Be prepared with lots of tissues and try not to read it at night because you will wake up with after crying eyes.
This book is the epitome of romance. A dying husband plans a way to have his wife receive letters (once a month for a year) after his death. It is an amazingly romantic and beautiful story. I think that if you like chick lit, you will like this book.

DID NOT FINISH

Es interessiert mich so gar nicht und auch die Charaktere mag ich nicht besonders. Wird sich das in den nächsten ca. 300 Seiten noch ändern? Vermutlich nicht. Deshalb breche ich jetzt ab.

Yes, it's pretty chick-lit-esque, but I really enjoyed it, and cried like a baby in it. It was a touching, easy read that is good when your brain just needs a break.

I saw the movie first, and hated the MC in it. Let me tell you - the movie is almost NOTHING like the book. I love this book so much. My only issue is the job situation as there was no indication that would be her dream job. Otherwise, I felt the characters were believable and everything ties up even if not in a neat bow.

This was a cute book, but not something I would usually pick up. I expected, honestly, for the story to make me cry at some point, but it didn't. It was a little "light" for the subject matter, in my opinion.

This was only 'ok'. It was funny in places and sad in places, but not as well developed as a novel should be. Ahern should never have got a book deal with this book. It is very light as literature goes, not a lot of substance to it.

Rare case where I liked the movie better. Hilary Swank nailed it and had me attached to and feeling for her character within 5 minutes. I'm impresed a 21-year old wrote this though, and obviously such a great movie would not exist without such a great concept and character development. It was a good book, just not as great as the movie, in my opinion.

LOVED THIS BOOK!!
