Ummmm...this book, in my humble opinion, needs a new title! I mean, the title implies a sort of fluffiness or lightness that the book itself does not have. It's not a downer, but it is heavy in terms of content and it is full of lessons and learning. I needed this book...truly. I live in a heavily Mormon-populated area of AZ and I grew up outnumbered (by FAR) by members of that faith. I have biases of which I am not proud regarding these folks and this book helped me see, address, and acknowledge that bias...and I am working on it, truly. I'm glad I didn't let the title dissuade me from reading this quite lovely book. ☺
I'm going to make it Goodreads official and claim this as my favorite book of 2017.
Pure perfection. Tanner and Sebastian's story is the story of many LGTBQ kids and my aches for their struggle, their fear, and for the crushing belief that they are not enough. This book is so so important. Christina Lauren, thank you for writing this. A must read.
I don't quite feel comfortable giving this book a star rating - it's a complex look at the struggle of being faithful and being queer and maybe I find it all the harder to categorise because how could it not hit close to home? I remember a time Before, where I found comfort in leatherbound books full of songs and singing together under curving arches of a church, and then came losing friends and being given a wide berth by half the (deeply religious) class and well, the death threats, and then the time After. My heart was bleeding for Sebastian quite a lot, to say the least.
There were bits I loved dearly and bits I really couldn't handle. Autoboyography is An Experience/5.

Wow this book is so good. I have to admit that it had a slow beginning setting up the theme and setting but once the ball started rolling it didn't stop till the end. Which by the way the ending had me shocked I honestly thought it was going to end with Tanner learning to love again with someone else but it was so beautiful when they found each other again. I especially loved at the end when the book was set from Sebastian's point of view that was very cute and added to the story a lot. But all in all I loved this book so much everyone should read this book.
My heart is so warm after reading this. Full review to come.
Fuck me up with the bisexual rep. This was so good.
