I thoroughly enjoyed this lovely book. Sometimes you just need something gentle and wholesome and this book ticks that box perfectly.
Despite it being listed as a romance on Goodreads it is not in the conventional sense of the word. It is really a love letter to female friendship and to London too. Libby really does capture the big city so well, the way it moves through a day, and the lives of the people who move with it. If you like people watching, if you look at people and wonder who they are, and what their stories are then the 24 Hour Cafe will speak to you.
I actually enjoyed many of the vignettes of the cafe customers almost more than the main story between Hannah and Mona and I really loved that at the end we circled back round to some of them to tie up their little stories.
Also the ending for Hannah and Mona was really lovely. Despite their friendship fracturing I loved how the author moved them through that to a positive, happy ending.

Det första ordet som kommer upp i mitt huvud efter att jag läst denna bok är oj. Caféet som aldrig sover är mer än en feelgoodbok – den lär läsaren om livets olika vrår, hur olika alla människors liv ser ut och att det finns upp- och nergångar under livets gång. Jag satt försjunken i alla karaktärers berättelser, allt från Mona och Hannahs vänskap till sorgsna kärleksberättelser och ovanliga öden.
Handlingen är långsam men på ett bra sätt. Det finns ett otroligt fint och trovärdigt djup i varenda karaktär, och Libby Page har en underbar förmåga att verkligen skapa karaktärer som läsaren fastnar för. Varenda liten karaktär fick plats i bokens handling, varenda liten detalj ger mening till bokens helhet och varenda händelse bildar storslagna berättelser.
Caféet som aldrig sover tog mig med storm, för nu när boken är utläst har jag svårt att släppa karaktärerna och Stellas Café. Jag vill tillbaka till den unika inredningen, alla härliga människor och de nattliga mötena som karaktärerna har. Om detta caféet hade funnits i verkligheten hade jag absolut velat åka dit och fika, kanske till och med bara sitta där och titta i flera timmar.

It took me a little while to get into this book but found its rhythm in the end and really enjoyed it. Very life affirming and uplifting.

The most perfect book for this very dark, very weird time we're finding ourselves in. It's light, funny, heartwarming, hopeful and lovely. Just what I needed to escape the recent events for a little while. ❤️
