I really enjoyed it! I absolutely loved the art style! I definitely am going to read the actual book now!
I love this series so much and it took under an hour to read but it's so good I hope they make hollow city into a graphic novel aswell
This was an impulse buy because I wanted to reread the story before the movie came out and I've been really into graphic novels as of late. I'd forgotten so much of the story and I think the format really worked for this story.
MY first graphic novel. it was a great book to read as a graphic novel because of the photos. I'm just not sure if I really like the graphic novel format.
I want to just start off with my favourite part of the whole thing... Cassandra Jean I love you! I've been a fan of Cassandra's art for a long time. I of course stumbled upon her Shadowhunter fan art on Tumblr and the rest is history. Her art set the perfect tone for this novel and the inclusion of the pictures was so well done.
It lacked when it came to plot. It was really strong in the beginning but the closer I got to the end the more condensed it felt.
All in all, I loved returning to the world and hanging out with Jacob and Emma again. I still need to read Library of Souls and now I have greater incentive to do it!

Without having read the original novel, I can't speak to whether all the scenes from the original story were kept, or whether this book just contained the highlights. But I can say that I loved the art all the way through: the mixture of "traditional" art with the realistic vintage drawing and the use of black and white and colors to differentiate between the "real world" and the Home for Peculiar Children worked really well to create a sense of separation between the two worlds as well as keep the reader's interest.
The plotline itself is fairly straight-forward and easy enough to follow. We have the grandfather with a mysterious past, a tragic death, and the quest to find answers, which leads the protagonist to realize the darker truths about his life, and off he goes to a second quest! The book reminded me a bit of Alice Hoffman's [b:The Museum of Extraordinary Things|18144053|The Museum of Extraordinary Things|Alice Hoffman|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1392575125s/18144053.jpg|25491380], but with a good vs. evil subplot.
Fans of the novel should give this a whirl since I think the art really adds a new dimension to the story, and for people who want a quick way to see if the story is for them, this book is also a good entry point.
