If you're doubting between reading this series or the Twisted Tales series, I would certainly recommend the Twisted Tales series. That doesn't mean this series isn't entertaining, because it is, but it misses that certain spark. However, I was quite excited to dive into this book. We've learned quite some things about the Odd Sisters in the previous books, but this time we were really going to dive into their backstory.

And once more I had expected something else, however, I did quite enjoy this story! There are quite a few reveals in this story putting things into perspective and explaining a few loose ends. The Odd Sisters have always been side characters, but now all the questions we still had regarding them are answered. I would have loved more chapters from their point of view, but I guess they had lost too much of themselves to madness already.

What I did enjoy though is that literally all the previous stories are coming back and are incorporated. Some have a bigger influence than others, especially because some have happened more recently than others, but everything the Odd Sisters did, all the pain and hurt they caused is coming back to haunt them and it's eventually Circe who has the biggest decisions to make. In a way it's maybe just as much her story as its the story of the Odd Sisters.

But it's not just their story. The previous story focussed on Gothel and not so much on everyone else, but now all the characters are back. I loved how Snow White got some more of a story, growing a little backbone and more stronger. And I loved all the bickering and fighting among the fairies. I have to admit that this series is not really helping to like Merryweather, Flora and Fauna, but the fight between moving forward and tradition is quite amusing nonetheless.

I'm really curious how the story will continue.

This book helped to fill in the gaps of many of the plot holes I have been confused about in the series. I wish it was longer though because it answered many questions but it left me with a ton also. Like I want to know how and exactly why the odd sisters were given up. I want like 5 chapters just on that. Also why was their grandmother so evil. I get the queen of the dead thing but I also wonder how their lineage got mixed up in all that. I need a one off book on their family history. Overall this is a great midway point to the series.

I absolutely loved this book! I loved all the twists and how all the characters seem to be intertwined, and how the writing places a darker perspective on our well known Disney villains! I also really loved finally getting to dive deeper into the odd sisters and find out all the answers to the many questions I’ve had about them over the course of the series so far, and it definitely kept me guessing!!!

What i would recommend to anyone wanting to read any of these books is to read them in order as the characters and their stories flow through all the books as they progress along the series. However as someone who has not read them in order I can say it has not affected how much I loved reading this book at all and would definitely recommend ❤️
