I thought this book was a cute read! I usually don’t read reviews when I’m picking a book to read but I did read them before this book and I almost didn’t read it because of the reviews. I’m glad I decided to read this book anyways!

I appreciated that this book included a character that switched pronouns a couple times. I haven’t read a book where a character tested different sets of pronouns. It also helped me get used to using gender neutral pronouns that aren’t they/them.

We love a queer YA romance .

Noah is a trans high schooler who spends part of his summer with his older, college-aged brother in Denver. Created and run by Noah, Meet Cute Diary is a popular blog that shares fictional stories of trans meet cutes and their happily ever after stories. While Noah passes them off as real, these stories give him hope of finding love himself.

After running out of money, Noah looks for a job and interviews at a bookstore where he meets Drew. Eventually, Noah begrudgingly gets a job at a kids’ summer camp where his brother works. Noah meets Devin right after e throws up on Noah. Devin brings Noah coffee the next day, and every day after, to try to make amends.

Noah’s life seems to crumble when his blog is hit by a troll who calls him out on the fact that his stories are fake. To save the blog, Noah starts fake dating Drew from the bookstore. Their fake romance turns into a real romance which becomes toxic very quickly.

Noah is caught in the struggle between dumping Drew or continuing to date him to save the blog. In the end, Noah does break it off with Drew after finding out he had been lying for quite some time.

By this time, Noah’s friendship with Devin has grown into something special. Noah learns to trust his true friends, comes clean on his blog, moves to California, and begins a relationship with Devin. Together with Noah’s bestie Becca, and Devin the three run the new blog.

4.5 stars - it was great!

The main character is a bit grating... But it's an otherwise pretty cute story. And I love the representation of a trans character...
