Happy to see YA books with representation. Don’t love the main character. However, I read this as a trans rom-com YA book. Wasn’t expecting great lit….I mean Harlequin romances serve their purposes for some. It was enjoyable and I appreciate that there are options for todays teens where they may feel seen.

I think this book was really well written and almost certainly perfect for any trans teen. However, I'm definitely too old for it.
Graphic: Toxic relationship
Moderate: Suicide
At first I thought that it will be a cute love story, and it was kinda cute at the beginning. But what made me hate the book is the principal character, Noah. He was so annoying from the beginning to the end. He is such a bored, spoiled kid and self-centered person. Like everything should be turn around him and only. And if he is not happy nobody should be.
He has no notion of money, he literary spent $400 in ONE week and is surprised that his parents blocked his card. Like bro what were you thinking. He is also so ungrateful towards his brother. His brother was the reason he got a job and the only thing Noah did was complaining about the job. If you don't like don't do it and stop being so mean towards everyone one for helping you.
Devin was clearly my favorite character, and again Noah was so mean towards him for literary no reason. First time they met, Devin throw up on him and the only thing Noah cares about is his pant and gets angry against e. He didn't even ask if he was fine, no he just yelled at him for vomiting on the pant. I understand you can be sad for the pant, but you can wash it.

There were many parts of the story where I wasn’t quite sure how I felt about the events unfolding. But ideally a relationship built off of an ulterior motive definitely seemed….like a choice. I think I really it was a great story and dealt with a lot of important topics in a real type of way.
Oh I really loved this, so much. I hope to make a video review, where I can hopefully gather and articulate my thoughts and feelings. Just know that the blurbs from authors for this book are all 1000% accurate. Thank you Emery for writing this.
I wanted to love this book so bad. It has its cute moments but the main character was super annoying and entitled. We have to try and remember that Noah is only 16 years old but my god he is insufferable. Becca and Devin saved the book for me.
Meet Cute Diary was a quick, easy read. And while I found the story cute and enjoyable, it just felt a bit one-dimensional. The premise of the novel revolves around this diary of meet cutes online that are said to be anonymous submissions, but are all just daydreams of our main character (missing any LGBTQ representation that isn't Noah, our main character). And while there was some character growth, I found Noah an essentially selfish protagonist who is still an essentially selfish protagonist at the end. So, if you want a lighthearted queer romance novel, this ones for you, just don't expect it to have a lot of depth.
Yes to this book not having the standard rom-com set up.
