the premise of this book is totally ridiculous but once you look past that it’s super good!! i really liked all the character (well besides drew obviously) and i really like the writing style, there’s only one thing that bothered me and it’s the “not even technically illegal” comment about drew and noah’s age gap, it was totally unnecessary and it’s literally the argument pedophiles use so,, at first i thought the comment was there because the book was going to talk about grooming but no it was just an off hand comment thrown there

I really liked how this book focused on character flaws and how people are still lovable even when there is room for growth. It was also great to see a book with trans & nonbinary representation! I think some people may find the main character frustrating but I think he was realistic and more of a lovable asshole
Graphic: Emotional abuse, Transphobia, Toxic friendship
Moderate: Panic attacks/disorders, Transphobia, Suicide attempt
Minor: Adult/minor relationship, Bullying, Drug use, Homophobia, Mental illness, Gaslighting, Alcohol

well! That was a book and I Strongly dislike it!!
honestly a huge disappointment because this was blurbed by a ton of authors I've given 5 stars before.
There were a few elements I liked, so I'll talk about those first. I really enjoyed Brian, Noah's brother. He's just a silly confused but supportive frat bro. Does he know what a binder is? Absolutely not, but he will offer up his wallet to buy one. Need more Brian content honestly.
I also really appreciated Devin, e was just a real sweetheart. E was kind, and friendly, and for only being 17, e was a wonderful communicator in all of eir relationships. I've also never read a book that had a character who uses neopronouns, so that was nice to see Devin figure out what worked best for em and feel supported throughout.
The relationship Noah has with his friend Becca felt weirdly codependent and toxic, they definitely didn't seem like best friends at all. Also Drew's disgusting and gross, hate him.
The 'conflict' event of the book happened in chapter two and it wasn't well written either. It was just like here's the main character now let's Immediately get to the 'conflict'
Main issue I had is that Noah is just an insufferable character. He acts incredibly entitled and immature throughout the book. He throws a fit after his parents freeze his credit card because he somehow managed to blow through a 400$ limit in a week (HOW??) He also acts like he's entitled to Becca's friendship, expecting her to be constantly available to talk about his issues, nevermind that she's a working college student on the other side of the country. He sends her multiple angry texts when she doesn't reply instantly and also I'm sorry,,,calls her a "binch"??? Who speaks like that, jesus christ.
Also, Noah acts like he's hot shit because of his popular tumblr blog, and it's clear that the author doesn't understand how tumblr actually works. Mainly, people aren't commenting on posts like they would on other social media. They're usually adding replies in the notes or adding commentary as tags. Secondly, tumblr is like the one social media where followers don't matter, follower count isn't public, nobody gives a shit, so having a main character act like he's some huge influencer,,,on the blue hellsite? PLEASE!!!!
this book made me TIRED I just want more Brian 🙃
