I'd give it a five especially for the last 20 chapters. It picks up like ACOTAR does in the last 1/3 of the book except this is a much bigger climax to resolution so much more on the line. Where I get frustrated is wishing most of Feyre's dialogue was more than just questions. I know she's only a year into this world but someone please make her read the treaty or a history book about the war. something. i could picture this whole book in my head like a movie, would reread parts to sync up with the pacing of the visual I had in my head. I haven't been this immersed in a series since I read Twilight as a 12 year old. The tension, the stakes, the adventure, all 10 out of 10. The spice only enters the chat in the last 150ish pages which how people talk about it, I thought maybe it came way too soon. I'm glad it happened when it did. Sarah J Maas is amazing at building - the world, the tension, the stakes, the characters, etc.

In which Feyra gains a personality and a few brain cells and this series gets good.

While the story is good, I would not recommend this to anyone with sexual trauma or an abusive person in their life as this book will likely be very upsetting. Trigger warning: explicit sex scenes (several that can be skipped), abuse, torture, returning to abuser, sex work, assault is hinted at, PTSD, violence

I definitely liked this book better than the first, but to be honest I also took a long break and kind of forget the beginning. I think there are good parts to it but there’s also just some pretty cheesy and bad writing that made me physically cringe at points haha. I would say, again, it’s better than the first and it’s been a good book to get through quickly because it’s action packed, but I wouldn’t say it’s that good.

This book was phenomenal. From the character arcs to plunging plot twists, this book was nothing less than a roller coaster of emotions. Firstly, I personally enjoyed Feyre’s character development and healing a lot more in this book than the second. Second of all, this is not a romance, primarily(at least in my opinion). This is a political fantasy (a very well-done one too), with wars betrayals, politics of relations between Courts and division between them, everything was full of action and drama. I will say I have predicted quite a lot of the plot, yet it was still very enjoyable and exciting! This was a great build-off from the previous book, and I can’t wait to see how the author evolves the story in the next one!

After the first book, I didn’t know if I’d finish the series. I figured I’d try to read the second and see how it went, and I am so glad I did. This book was truly beautiful. I loved the redemption of Rhys, and I loved seeing Tamlin as more of a villain. Rhys’ court is amazing and truly felt like a family especially with the addition of Feyre. Towards the end I was OBSESSED and could not wait to read/finish the book, and now that it’s over I can’t wait to pick up the next book!

TW: SA, DV, violence, death of family
