Longest filler book in the series. Lots of good information about Ouranos, but so much could’ve been cut, especially the constant repetition of Nadir and Lor’s undying love for each other. We get it.

What the actual heck what that cliff hanger?! Book three picks it up a notch. As Lor continues to learn more about her history, she finds herself having a harder time staying away from Nadir. Nadir knows that sooner or later Lor will stop punishing them both and give into her feelings. Lor and the gang need to get back to Aphelion and get to the Mirror so that Lor can find out what she needs to do next to get her queendom back. While they work on a plan, Gabriel is doing everything that he can to keep Atlas away from the truth and finding Lor. This entire series has me in a chokehold. I love the way that Nisha Tuli has weaved this story together and that the magic system is different from other fantasy books. Throughout this entire book, Nisha had us jumping into other timelines and POVs and it drops so many nuggets of information and allows the reader to transport back into the past and learn why things are happening now. The ENDING of that book was criminal and I immediately jumped into book four because I couldn’t handle not knowing what happened.

There were good moments in this, but overall I think it fell a bit flat. Nadir lost all his spark?? He use to be fun but was boooooring (IMO) in this 3rd book. YAWN.

I want to like these books more than I actually do. In this book we finally saw some originality in the plot. It moved from just being a not great amalgamation of other books plots into something with a bit of its own magic system and origins. I could not fully enjoy this because the characters were all over the place with their motivations and actions. The dialogue also declined in this book in a distracting way, taking me out of the story at several points.
