Her books just keep getting better. I love peeking behind the curtain of those whose job is to deal with death. The way Brennan handles emotion and responsibility feels very real and heartfelt.

This story had a nice pacing and was an overall good time. This case revolves around motorcycle gangs and was interesting since I have not read anything to do with MC’s. The case hit close to home which caused a tad less in the forensic anthropology/pathology department, but more about Brennan worrying and trying to do some police work while coming up against other officers.

Looking forward to the next book in the series. I have to find what exactly is going on with Detective Ryan!

Best one yet for me - huge KR book fan though. Doesn’t mean some things like her constantly missing the very obvious or running head first into danger and then needing rescuing constantly doesn’t slightly annoy me .. but in a way that I stillll despite this, want to read about her mundane life and the scientific detail. Like an annoying sister you can’t shake.

There is a fundamental difference between a TV adaptation and a movie adaptation. With few exceptions (notably The Hobbit), the movie is significantly shorter than the book, while a successful TV adaptation is significantly longer. For this reasons, readers often complain about movie adaptions, "The book was better." On the other hand, the opposite might be true for TV adaptation.

In order to counteract this bias, my advice for those who were introduced to Temperance Brennan, the forensic anthropologist, through the wildly successful (11 seasons) Bones TV series is "Forget the TV series when you op[en the book." The coincidence the the protagonist of Deadly Decisions by Kathy Reichs has the same name as the lead in Bones must be forgotten. They are not related.

The book is a murder mystery, like other murder mysteries with multiple puzzles and red herrings, which are all solved in the end. For me, this was a middle-of-the-road mystery. Specifically several of the mystery threads foreshadowed their resolution too clearly too early.

A fine mystery, well plotted and written.
