I read the Temperance Brannon books out of order. I enjoyed to see her relationship with her nephew and for once she didn't get herself into too mutch trouble. I would prefer if she did not try to solve as many things by herself.

I get impatient waiting for Ian Rankin to write the next Rebus story every year, so I branched out to read Kathy Reichs. My brilliant nephew is addicted to her bones books.
I don't think I'll share the obsession. Perhaps it's necessary for me to have a crush on Rebus, and for brilliant nephew to have a crush on Reichs' character Tempe Brennan. They are both cool - Rankin's Rebus has awesome musical taste and abuses alcohol gently, perhaps appropriately for an Edinburgh detective. Reichs' Brennan has fabulous credentials (as does Reichs herself), but she lacks the edge that makes Rebus my go-to for police procedurals with a witty twist.

Dr. Temperance Brennan is a forensic anthologist working in Canada and the United States.
There is a string of bodies turning up in Quebec and shes working on the cases. A nine year old has been fatally shot in a drive by not intended for her, the bones of teenager who disappeared form her North Carolina home years prior, the bone fragments of gang bikers who died in an explosion, and later 2 graves are uncovered of past gang bikers. These deaths are all connected and the tally keeps building with the two rival outlaw motorcycle gangs at war in the streets of Montreal.
Brennan dives into the investigation while also looking after her nephew Kit. Who has taken an unsettling interest in the motor bikes and those who ride them. Brennan tries her hardest to keep him out of the danger line where one misstep can bring disaster upon herself and those she loves.
This was a good read with very detailed forensics that eventually tie all the murders and characters together. I did find a lot of the information to not grasp my attention in some parts of the book but overall i like how everything tied together.

This one was better than the second for me—the pace was better, and there wasn't as much going on as in the second one, so it was more enjoyable overall. Also, the cliff-hangers at the end of chapters weren't as numerous and you didn't have to wait as long to get resolution. I'm curious if the events this novel was based around actually happened; I was young in 2000, when the book was published, and didn't pay attention to the news. I'm looking forward to the next one!
