The descriptions of places and people in this book are so beautiful and vivid, and I really enjoyed the world building. I wish some things about the main characters were revealed sooner. I think it would help me be less frustrated with some of the naivety, and decisions they made.

I liked the beginning of the book. A girl trying to find her mother in a new world she discovered. At times, Violet was too naive. Like, come on… someone betrayed you once, and the second time you are shocked?

I didn't get attached to any characters because it is a short book, and I didn't really care what was happening. I wanted to see if she found her mother.
----
Now that I reread the ending… what was that? Her mother really said, "I'm leaving, ciao. It's your problem now." I really—REALLY—thought she would find a way to break the curse. To have a big fight at the end where she would sacrifice herself for her daughter… nope. She left her and didn't even have a reunion at the end to say, "Okay, I failed us, but you saved us, my beautiful daughter," or something.
