Most of this was extremely predictable and a little eye roll inducing, but I actually really liked it?
I didn't like Saffy, but I did like Saffy. It was a perfect balance of hating her but still liking her, which I think takes a really talented author.
Thanks to NetGalley and RB Media for the ARC!

I’m on the fence as to whether this was well executed or not. I was expecting this to be solely from Saffy’s perspective and her serial-killing escapades, but a lot of the book focuses on her crush’s storyline. I found it was quite predictable but in a ‘ha! I knew it!’ kind of way rather than being disappointing. I’m sure frequent thriller readers would find this a quick read.
This had the potential to be iconic but it was kind of pointless. The first mistake was making this book, which is supposed to be about a female serial killer who kills bad men, more about the male protagonist than about the female one. I didn’t count but it seemed to me like it was at least 60% from Jon’s pov (the different narrators were weird too). The end got a little smile out of me but that was it. I don’t understand why this is being marketed as feminist either because, even though Saffy mentions a few basic feminist ideas here and there, there is still a lot of subtle misogyny in this book that seems unintentional and isn’t addressed. The only exciting parts of the books (Jon finding the object and the thing with the politican) were glossed over way too fast and ended up not being exciting at all. None of the characters were likeable, or alternatively unlikeable, enough to be interesting — not even the protagonist who is a serial killer (weirdly). Overall, I’m disappointed.
(Also the green cover is so fcking ugly)
Edit: I just realised this is supposed to be a thriller? I’ve never read a thriller before but I can say with confidence this is not a good one / it’s not even a thriller. Also I’m remembering a few plot points that were just ignored or not resolved. Tempted to go down to 1 star.

Lighthearted book about a female serial killer railing against the patriarchy? I’m in! Although the book seems to focus more on the romance storyline instead of her murders I really enjoyed the read.
Somewhere between 4 and 5 stars
In real life, I’m not a fan of capital punishment, but the men that Saffy kills are the kind that almost never get any sort of justice at all, let alone the death penalty, so I was mysteriously totally fine with her behavior. We don’t actually see her doing that much, but she lets us know about it, in between when she is trying to get a boyfriend, clearly one of the good men. He’s Jonathan Desroisiers, a podcaster who helps cops catch bad men, although in the course of doing so, gets in a bit of hot water himself.
This a fun, twisty mystery, although you can make some guesses about certain things early on. In any case, the characters, even socialite serial killer Saffy, are likeable. It’s fast paced and somehow funny.

“Of course, I was wrong, but again in my defense, I was only fifteen, and I’d already gotten away with murder once. I thought I was invincible.”
After being abused by her stepfather, Saffy becomes a serial killer of bad men. Her first murder is of her stepfather to protect herself and his little sister. As an adult, she becomes infatuated with Jonathan, a true-crime podcaster. Saffy stalks Jonathan in order to grow close to him. Will she win him over or will he become her next victim?
I love a woman serial killer! I listened to this book through NetGalley and couldn’t stop listening in the beginning. As I got to the middle of the book, it began to drag a bit. It also changed from a thriller plot line to more of a romance plot line. I would have liked to hear more about serial killer Saffy than her romantic relationship. I didn’t feel the tension and suspense that I like to feel when reading a thriller. There wasn’t a shocking plot twist in the end, and I really wanted something major to happen.
The narrator, Nathalie Buscombe, has a beautiful voice. She did a wonderful job reading this story. She is one of the main reasons that I kept listening to the end. I would love to listen to more book narrations by her.

Minus a star for what she did to the poor dog at the beginning. Loved the ending though! A nice little murder mystery sprinkled into a “vigilante woman kills bad men” book—even if she is a psychopath.
I love the idea of this, but I won’t say I was bored, I just wasn’t really interested in the characters or where the story was going. There wasn’t really much of a mystery or thriller (until the very end), just a story about her obsession with this kind of loser guy, which also didn’t make sense.
3.5* I really enjoyed this until the end.
It wasn’t a bad ending, it was, however, quick.
It all cumulated in a few pages and it was a little anticlimactic. Bulking the ending out would have made it much more well rounded. And I would have liked it to focus on Saffy’s murders a bit more in depth. It could’ve gone so much more in depth with Saffy but her character coverage felt a little shallow.

***** I received this free audiobook from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
A decent book. It had some really good parts. It also was a little odd with how the characters fit together. It threw me off and made me less interested in the storyline.
