Damnit Sanderson he DID IT AGAIN! What a satisfying, happy yet devastating ending to the second mistborn era. This series is a bit more hopeful than its predecessor as the world level stakes are less devastating. But the integration of the greater cosmere lore was done beautifully. RIP to one of my favorite fictional characters ever. You went out in an epic, spectacularly you way. I’ll miss the characters from this series so so so so so much. Absolutely amazing!

The way that Sanderson manages to wrap up the series, or sub-series, was entertaining, fulfilling, and satisfying. At first, reading through the books of the Wax and Wayne chronicles of Sanderson’s Mistborn world, I was a little disheartened by the fact that each story felt like it stood on its own, and it wasn’t necessarily continuation of a single storyline. However, this book proves me completely wrong in that sense of the way. Sanderson managed to weep in all of the plot holes from the previous books in the series and wrap it up in a nice tidy bow, giving every character he brings in a satisfying end.

Of course I was heartbroken by the loss of Wayne, but I honestly couldn’t be too upset, considering that he was protecting his best friend and doing so in a way that still felt like himself.

Wax, Wayne, and the entire gang have this specific meshability that I rarely see in books that contain a lot of characters and complicated storylines, but truthfully, Sanderson is such a gifted writer that he manages to not weave in, but to tie it in to previous storylines to help those come to an official close as well.

This is the third set of books from Sanderson that I have read, and I look forward to continuing my way through his creative worlds!

What can I say? I’m not a big fan.

You’re meant to be helping people.
