I want to cry. I did NOT want to read the 584'th page of this book. Because it meant the end. The resolution. The answer, and the end of my journey with Lissa and Rose and (almost) all the other AMAZING characters that Richelle created in this wonderful, wonderful series.
As soon as I finished the book, I ordered blood promise. I can't wait to read it, but my expectations are high. Can Richelle Mead write a new series as good as Vampire Academy? Doubtful. But we'll see.
Anyway; Thank you Richelle for letting me enter the iron gates to Vampire Academy, and be a part of this amazing world that i so desperately want to live in.

As for the other volumes; there are cws that I won't write, but easily found on the internet.
After the huge disappointment that was the previous volume, I wanted to believe that the next (and then the last) would be better.
And indeed, compared to the fourth, it was much better.
I read the fifth and the sixth one after the other, because I wanted to "finish it", because despite everything, these volumes did not really "convince" me.
Yes, there are things that I liked in these two volumes; but others that continued to make me roll my eyes.
I'll read 6.5 and the "untold", because I'm curious, and since it follows these characters. But I will not read the other saga.
This main saga remains a "good" saga. I don't think it's a "obligatory" reading (if I may say so) in a lifetime, but it's still a really interesting universe to discover !

Wow. I can't believe this actually happened. A series that instantly grabbed me in the first book and had me sucked in has spiraled down to this. So much potential was lost, and though I'm not sure why I expected it to end any other way, I was still incredibly disappointed with the ending. Which isn't to say that I disliked every aspect of this book, but there is so much about it that bothered me.
One can make the argument that the author is portraying her characters as real people, meaning they are flawed and struggle. I can agree to that and it's because of this that Adrian climbed the ranks as my favorite character in the series. However, there's showing the person's flaws in the spotlight and there's showing them and casually glossing over them. For me, it felt like Rose fell in that latter category.
I have made no secret of the fact that I have never been a fan of Rose/Dimitri so you can imagine how I felt about the conclusion to Rose and Adrian. Their scene at the end was one of my favorites, but again it was casually glossed over in favor of a happy moment with the endgame couple. Honestly, Rose went from being one of my favorite characters to someone I really grew to dislike.
What I did like was the tests required before becoming the next Moroi leader. I liked how Lissa grew as an independent person in this book, and what happened with her and Rose just seemed like the final note in her growth. The political intrigue and murder mystery were interesting mixes and a nice break from all the Rose drama.
I missed the minor characters. I wanted more from Eddie, Jill, Christian and Adrian. I admit I liked the dynamic of Victor and Robert added to the mix, and was glad Sydney had more time in the story as well. I absolutely loved Abe in this book and wish there was more from him, too. What can I say? I'm a sucker for minor characters and always will be.
As a whole the series was pretty decent. It kept my interest and parts of the plot sucked me in. However I feel like there was a lot of wasted potential and the ending just felt too... well, Adrian put it best when he said "happily ever after". And with all the other things that happened, I guess I was looking for something a little more bittersweet or even dark.

Not the epic ending I was wanting to calm and tame of an ending after all that no epic getting back together for rose and dimitri just oh there together finally.

Plot : Rose is accused of regicide and has to go on the run (again).
Impressions : The ending is seriously underwhelming. The idea that anyone would vote for Lissa as queen after her own allies murdered her predecessor is absurd. When Rose is confronted about her selfishness and the damage she leaves in her wake, she brushes it aside. Because apparently other people's lives don't matter. So she won't try to make up for the consequences of her actions.
Impressions : The ending is seriously underwhelming.
2 stars.
I….these last two books…I’m so disappointed. I’ll leave it at that for now, but I’m sure I’ll elaborate when I make a video review for this in my next wrap up.

FIRST REVIEW / APR 8, 2014
P e r f e c t i o n. Brilliant continuity tying everything together from the previous five books, delivers payoff for long-waiting storylines, wraps everything up exactly the way I wanted, hits all the right notes. So, so, so good.
Now I’m just fucking bummed I’ve reached the last of the series and can’t read more about Rose & Dimitri & Lissa. :(
… TIME TO START THE SPINOFF SERIES

SECOND REVIEW / NOV 2, 2022
Still an immensely satisfying conclusion to this fun silly frothy YA series — I’ve kept jokingly saying things about my reread like “this is my trashy vampire melodrama”, but honestly that’s selling Vampire Academy short. Mead is a competent plotter juggling a large cast of characters, while still giving minor characters their due and highlighting the importance of friendship right alongside the big swoony tropey romance. And Rose learns and grows so much over the course of the series, and it’s great to see.
I just docked a star this time around because the denouement is very fast and tidy, hitting like every single possible cathartic narrative beat in the last 4% of the book. (And yet, even then, Adrian points out that very thing and makes Rose self-conscious about it, which I thought was a neat touch re: the happy ending.) Still, all-in-all, I highly recommend this series if you ever want to dip into the realm of YA vampires. And the Peacock TV series is fun too!
I never actually got around to reading the spinoff series, but I like Sydney and Adrian enough that I’m hoping I’ll get to it eventually.
