At first, I found it less engadging then Pollock's first novel. I was more hyped for this novel since some of the characters hailed from Alabama and the Deep South rather then West Virginia and Ohio. As the story continued, I found myself enjoying the dynamics of the 3 brothers more then anything else. The female characters are much better in this novel then Pollock's The Devil All the Time, but I still found myself wishing for more of them and their stories. Overall, I'd say this is a very good read, especially if you enjoy Flannery O'Connor and the Southern Gothic genre.
