Would’ve been four stars but the epilogue thing sucked and Bart and Kiran should’ve gotten a better ending.

This is the only teens titan comic I've read and I don't really know the circumstances or characters, but this was a quick and enjoyable read. I didn't know there were so many supers.

A big mess. Plot holes all over the place. Jumps from one thread to another. Things happen off screen that are not even hinted at. Multiple artists per issue that are not congruent. Ended in a good place. At least it's over.

I'm sure I won't read anything from Scott Lobdell ever. Teen Titans was a team I was ANSIOUS to know about, maybe the characters I love the most, but this man simply did whatever he wanted to do, took safe-bets every single time he could and, despite he tried to be realistic, he knew nothing about how to develop a story. On the other hand, I'm glad this is over so I can start with Teen Titans Volume 5. May it be good enough to make me forbet about this shit of a series.
Oh, by the way, Red Robin NEVER tells his oh-so-called team mates his name is Tim Drake.

Holy crap am I glad to be done with this series. Yet another title the “New 52” screwed up. None of the characters are good & their development was even worse. Lobdell’s writing is disconnected & confusing, plus the dialogue is painful. Not a fan of Kirkman’s or any of the 14 other artists in the book. I’m seeing more & more why they did 2 reboots in 3 years. Hopefully “Rebirth” straightened out the poor writing.

A disjointed last attempt to close out the series
The good: The collection started off in an ok spot, and it had me hooked for a bit while the future kid-flash story was beginning. It had the potential for a strong plot. It seems there were a few artists tasked with finishing this series up. While some were just average, the last issue was particularly well drawn.

The bad:
OOF. Clearly the writers had less time than they thought. The collection as a whole is so disjointed and incoherent. We have plot points set up and never followed through on like future Beast Boy and Superboy getting doppleganger'd and trapped in the future. Kid-Flash and solstice deciding they want to go on a killing spree and getting trapped in the future. Both of these character lines were capped of with a two-panel summary that makes no sense at the end of the book. The Kid-Flash storyline had me in the beginning, but the tone changes back and forth too quickly between him being a hero and a mass murderer. Between humour and seriousness. His backstory, while intersting, had no payoff except to write-out two of the characters so that we can end the book. There is no character building, we have reunions with Skitter and with Miguel and his boyfriend, which get 4-5 panels of fanfare before a random villain shows up, tells their plan, and runs off.
The titans works best as a breakfast club for superheroes. The mid-2000's run, and most recently, the young justice show did this correctly. It should be about the characters and the interpersonal dynamics and these teenagers growing into their roles and becoming like (or actively trying to be unlike) their adult coutner parts. It should be about their relationships with themselves and their trials and tribulations, not a monster of the week with a week through-line. K

Well, that was the final volume, and after being such a manga nut, I find 5 volumes disappointingly small. I'm not too happy with the wrap up either, and find it so...odd. Especially frustrated about The Culling being entirely off text when it stared the Teen Titans.

All in all, I had trouble putting this volume down, wanting to know what happens next. If they really just leave KF and Solstice there I'm gonna be pissed. I want more. Why did it end there? WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN NEXT!?!

These weren't that great tbh. They could have been so much better and it felt like I was missing parts of arcs. I don't know like one thing would start and then it would get resolved, but it wouldn't show how it got resolved. And I felt like the characters/relationships could have been so much stronger. But, the art was good, they were entertaining, and easy to read on my lunch breaks. Plus, it had Tim Drake Robin/Red Robin which is my favorite.

Overall, really disappointing, but there were only 5 volumes and they were quick to get through. Just the writing/plot was confusing and I didn't care for all of the teen relationship drama. I would have preferred them just slowly and realistically build friendships. Volume 3 was the best/most interesting one imo.

It's really strange that out of all of my friends on here not a single one has this shelved. Not one. I understand Lobdell isn't a very well-liked author but it's still strange no one wanted to read the last book in this series.

This wasn't terrible but it wasn't great either. So many things weren't explained or when they were explained it ended up just being super convenient for the story. Space court (it's not called that but I'm going with it) was silly, and the whole religious fanatics against the evil secular government in the future felt shoehorned into the story. I realize there had to be a reason for Bart to be on trial, but wow was this just crammed in at the last minute.

So since none of my friends have read this, here's where everyone stands at the end of this volume:

Kid Flash -
SpoilerCurrently in prison with Solstice because he killed a bunch of people because they killed his parents when he was a kid. Also, his sister joined up with that group and she's the one that ultimately lead to Bart being captured, the second time.

Solstice -
SpoilerAfter Bart was sentenced Solstice killed one of the judges so she would go to prison too.

Superboy -
SpoilerNot actually Superboy. Beast Boy from 20 years in the future switched Superboy's and Jon Lane Kent's (who is evil) costumes so the Teen Titans would take not-Superboy to the 30th century with them. You have to read Action Comics to see what happens to Superboy in regular time, but in the 3rd annual issue we learn Superboy apparently died and was reborn as the herald for the Oracle. Yeah. What's really funny about all of this is we only find out what happened to not-Superboy because of an offhand comment by Wonder Girl - he decided he needed to stay in the 30th century. And no one even questioned this! Amazing.

Skitter -
SpoilerOh hey, she decided to come back at the last minute after everything had happened. Oh, and she's Amanda Waller's daughter! (Did we know this already and I just wasn't paying attention?)

Raven -
SpoilerApparently the bond with her father has been broken ... somehow. No further explanation is given but Bunker admits they all knew she was only in the group to enslave them and take over the world but it's ok because she feels bad about that.

Harvest -
SpoilerHe pops up at the end as an old man who built a school for all of the kids from The Culling - surprise! They're not dead. He healed them ... somehow. And by doing so he took away their powers - but guess what! All the powers turned into ... a giant green strand of metagene! Yeah ... it's dumb. Really dumb. Raven uses her powers to destroy it and blows it up along with Harvest. "He won't bother us again!" they say, but this is a comic book and they didn't show a body so I'm not buying it.

Red Robin admits he has a crush on Wonder Girl and kisses her. The two of them along with Bunker and Beast Boy are, for the most part, fine.

So there you go! Now you really don't need to read this volume.

Been enjoying the new Teen Titans so far, but this one was terrible. Good looking, but by the time I finished I had no idea what was going on.
