4.5, very well written for a sensitive topic. Definitely covers a lot of important issues in today's world of being a teen.

Wow was this book an emotional ride.

This book takes place in Sterling, New Hampshire. On March 6, 2007 everything it was an ordinary day. Until 10:00 a.m., when Peter Houghton went into the school are started shooting. Now, Peter is being faced with nine murder charges, and nineteen attempted murder charges. Will he get aquitted, or will he serve a lifetime in jail for the destruction he has caused?

There are so many different characters in this book, sometimes it was hard to keep track. I got Peter and Patrick confused all the time, so when I was reading from Patrick's POV but I thought it was Peter, it was pretty interesting.

Jodi Picoult wrote this book very well. The emotions throughout the book are all seen through different people's words. For example, sadness and agony seen through Lacy's words are painful, because she just doesn't know how her son could have done that to people. Or the anger from the parents. It was all very well written.

Spoiler The ending surprised me. I didn't get the feeling that what Josie was blocking out was the fact that she actually shot Matt in the chest. But that just shows, even though her and Peter went their separate ways, she still thought of Peter as a friend, and could never think of him as something else, even though she pretended she did.

This book was very interesting. It reminded me of CSI: New York because it was crime and they were trying to figure out all the pieces. It was really fascinating to read about all of the hard work that goes into a trial, because I didn't realize all of that went into one.

I would recommend this book because it was very interesting and informative but at the same time entertaining.

Wow. Absolutely devastating book. All I can say is if you can handle a school shooting plot line, read this book!! This book developed so beautifully that my mind really was conflicted on how to view these characters. One minute I was 100% agreeing with them, the other I flipped completely. I love it when books really make me think & open my eyes to multiple sides of every story. So so good & so so heartbreaking. It had me on the edge of my sear & I feel so much for these characters.

Side note - this was an intense book to be reading while decorating my mom’s classroom & finding a bullet on the ground (police academy used the school for training). Needless to say we were out of whack for a minute thinking about it
