Title: Jaq With a Q
Author: Jettie Woodruff
Series or Standalone: Series
POV: Dual
Characters: 3
Plot: 3.5
Scorching Level:3.5
HEA: Not telling

I love Jettie Woodruff. Suit & Slut are two of my favorite books of 2015 and I was very excited to read this book. The blurb certainly captured my attention.
We meet Jaq. Jaq is a young woman who has lived the last five years of her life in a mental hospital for juveniles. When it is time to get out, she is afraid of everything and she is certain that she won't make it living on her own. Jaq has many phobias and she fixates on her health, thinking that she has various diseases when that is far from the truth.
She makes one phonecall with one wish. She wants someone to end her life... She needs a hitman. What happens when she calls the wrong number?
Oliver is a scientist working a mundane job. When he receives an odd call from a young woman, he decides to change his life and hers. He wants to help Jaq but what he really wants is to make her his pet project. Can he save her from herself and achieve praise for himself at the same time?

The premise was very promising. The author had my attention until the 30% mark. After that, I somehow lost interest and that was because I couldn't connect with the characters. Jaq is a challenged young woman but she didn't capture me as a character and that has nothing to do with her mental state. Oliver's actions had me confused and at some point I stopped supporting his way of acting and thinking.
The book has quite a few twists and turns and plenty of spice. The storyline had potential, but somehow the book didn't work for me. Still, I recommend it if you want something different.
Will I read the next book? Not sure yet, but perhaps I will.

3.5 Stars
