Grann does an incredible job of balancing storytelling with documentation. If you've ever watched those TV shows that are half documentary, half show, you know what I'm talking about. He somehow keeps up the mystery and is able to convey the suspense and dread surrounding the Osage Murders. I thought this book was the perfect mesh of suspense and education. There were some parts that were a bit slow, but I think that's just the nature of writing a book that involves so many elements, like government and policy.

Even after resolving who is behind the murders, Grann dives deeper and you are left with a sinking dread as you realize just how horrific some of these murders were.
