challenging hopeful informative inspiring reflective slow-paced

He's just so darned matter of fact that it can be a bit off-putting, but I appreciated having some intriguing ideas to ponder in terms of spirituality, cultivating inner peace, and dealing with the world and all those we encounter in it.

This one really fell flat for me! The reflections on spirituality were elementary at best, and one dimensional/inconsiderate at worst. I don't think I am the intended audience for this book.

Written like a 12 year old writes, and does not edit, the essay for English class due in an hour.

Very good book for reflecting on self and seeing things from different perspectives
informative

It had some unique perspectives but I feel like this was a book written by a man for men. Didn’t really take into account those of us who have monthly hormonal cycles when loosely saying things like keep your emotions stable at all times.

I really liked this book... until the end where it was "God God God."
And I did sort of feel like book didnt give much advice on HOW to change. It was mostly telling you how you're doing it wrong, but not much on how to fix it. I walked away now knowing that I need to make some changes but I still dont know how!

This book is a little woo-woo. And by woo-woo, I mean spiritual/religious in the sense of your friend tripping on mushrooms blathering about how all our souls are interconnected or something. It's not a bad thing, but your definitely have to be in the mood for it- and I was in the mood for it. This is one of those books that can make you feel like your brain is exploding.

A big part of this book is stepping back, dropping your demands, expectations, and suspension of disbelief and simply being willing to hear and receive what is being communicated. It's easy to brush it off and ignore it because it doesn't 'fit' with how we generally think on a day to day basis, but it has value, and can be applied.

I very much enjoyed the discussions of self, zen, and flow states. I'd consider this book worth re-reading, sooner rather than later, where I actually intentionally take notes and am intentional on what I am and am not agreeing with/ being cognizant of my own thoughts in relation to what the author is trying to say. They're not objectively right, I'm not objectively right, but it IS objectively right to try and figure out what works for you, the reader.

Would recommend.
