More angsty than [b:Blind Faith|17450677|Blind Faith (Blind Faith, #1)|N.R. Walker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1362048638s/17450677.jpg|23634287] and definitely more riveting!

Through These Eyes starts up a few months after [b:Blind Faith|17450677|Blind Faith (Blind Faith, #1)|N.R. Walker|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1362048638s/17450677.jpg|23634287] leaves off. Carter and Isaac's relationship is going well and Isaac has really made a lot of progress in opening up and not lashing out. They're happy. Carter wants to take their relationship to the next level and move in together, but Isaac is reluctant. He doesn't want to become a burden on Carter. So, progress, but like the rest of us, he needs to work on his insecurities.

This book squeezed my heart until it hurt. Carter and Isaac's relationship is seriously tested and trust and boundaries get torn. I hurt for them both for a good portion of this book. I cannot comment on the parts of the story I would kind of like to, though, because I don't want to give anything away. Suffice it to say there is a special hell for a certain character in this book.

The ending made the whole journey worth it, though. Carter and Isaac do make it to their HEA. And when I read it, my whole being relaxed.

I've read both of these books and while I don't agree with Isaac's behavior, I can certainly empathize. I don't know what's it is like to be blind. I don't know what it's like to have a disability. I don't know what it's like to grow up unable to trust others. But, I can appreciate the difficulty Isaac has had in his life. Having says that, his behavior towards Carter was, at times, unacceptable. He clearly lacks the capacity to control his and emotions. Carter was loving attentive and caring. He was thoughtful and he wasn't afraid to shower Isaac with affection. Meanwhile, Isaac was afraid that he would lose Carter. It was a tough mess to sort through towards the end. But, it was a great story. I fell in love with both characters. Yes, even Isaac. Because behind those hurtful words and cocky facade, he was a man completely in love. And that in and of itself is a scary experience. All in all I would recommend this series. I'm glad I read it. I thank the author for sharing. And, I look forward to Mark's story :D

Isaac & Carter

Isaac telling the detective that he should tell his daughter he dropped the cologne. Was hilarious! He is so unseriously serious

Isaac and Carter are happy, except for Isaac’s new colleague at work. He’s a creepy guy who Carter doesn’t trust, but Isaac befriends.

At the same time, Isaac’s niece is born and he wishes he could see her, and he longs to look at Carter as well. A new surgery is available, in Argentina, that his friend tells him about.

But Carter doesn’t like it, it’s suspicious, and he has the police look into it. Isaac is livid, and they argue. Carter leaves, then gets a text from Isaac saying he’s leaving and will be different when he returns.

In the nick of time, Carter gets to the airport, where Isaac hasn’t boarded the plane to Argentina. He doesn’t want to lose Carter, who he wants to have the surgery to see in the first place.

It’s all a scam, and thankfully, all is well. They heal together, go to therapy so Isaac can work on his anger and they can build their trust.

Well written, interesting series, and Isaac’s desperation is understandable in a world that is sight-driven.

KU

Little disappointed with this book, I really liked the first in the series. This one dragged a bit and I found myself skimming quite a lot. I think having dual POV might help - I found myself losing any sympathy I had for Issac because he was so cruel to Carter, having his perspective might have helped.

Spoiler I did like that they went to couple's counseling at the end - perhaps that will help Issac not to strike out so viciously. I get why he did it, but throwing Carter's ex's cheating in Carter's face was so awful. It's never ok to hurt someone like that.
