It was okay. The book moved a bit slow for me. It was definitely slower than other Duncan books I have read.

2.5

A bit quaint, given modern sensibilities, honestly. The weirdest part though, is that this book was updated to try to be more...modern? But it comes off more than a bit weird. Cell phones come up and are promptly forgotten. Behavior mandated by landlines is given a tacit explanation that makes little sense. Newspapers take the place of online news and feeds (yes, even back when this was updated) with little success in making it feel right.

Coupled with a general refusal to use contractions in conversation and the stilted, workaday nature of the dialogue, this book would have been better served to continue living in its time, set in the late 1960s. I don't believe that younger readers aren't up for such a story. I feel like updating it hurt it.
dark mysterious tense medium-paced

I was apprehensive reading this, wasn't sure this was too young for me and it is slightly but its not bad just written for younger audiences.

This is a good book, it isn't a thriller even though it has been tagged as thriller its a good pace and the characters are interesting and I liked their imperfections and dynamics between one another.
