The writing is clunky and repetitive but I didn't want to throw it away (which I literally did with the last Steel book I read). A better story than most of hers I've read. Not something I would have picked for myself, but it was mostly okay.

This is a sweet story, the kind that makes your heart warm. It was a quick book about Ginny and who she is now in New York vs who she was in Los Angeles. After the death of her son and husband, she left her job and moved to New York. She changed careers and traveled for an SOS group. On the anniversary of her husband and sons death, she came to the conclusion that she had enough of life. On her way to the river, she came across a young boy, who was homeless. She formed a bond with him and it grew into a relationship neither of them imagined.

Blue was a great story, but I didn’t think the characters were developed as much as they could have been. It seemed rather simplistic. With that being said, I understand why Danielle Steel is such a popular author. It was an inherently dark story but still rang in as a feel good novel... a good book to pass time without requiring too much thought.

I read this book after many people had recommended it to me and I am so glad they did. Danielle steel does not normally write books in the genre that I like, however this book was completely different to anything I had written. This story was so heart warming whilst heartbreaking at the same time. In some ways we saw the young character in the book as a child and therefore as the reader we felt more compassion towards him and in other ways we could almost relate to his because he came across as such a mature character because of the life that he had lead. The two very different stories intertwined well throughout the book and we felt the same amount of empathy to both of the main characters but for very different reasons. Overall this was a reading highlight of 2o16 and it will take a lot to beat this story.
